  Aim for the Top
Posted by: Murmur the Fallen - 12-01-2007, 09:13 AM - Forum: Future Steps - Replies (3)

I wonder what would happen with Doug jumping into the Gunbuster/Diebuster world.
I would like to see what he'd do on the scale of battle that just keeps on escalating and his reaction to using the Earth as a weapon during the last episode of Top 2.
Certainly the Top 2 time period would the furthest into the future that Doug has gone.
Also: character interactions. I'm wracking my brain but not sure how Doug interacts with loveable bubble-headed naifs like Nono. Once learning she's a gynoid, would his techie wonkiness come to fore?

Well, I suppose he could go to that world during Top 1 but most of the action takes place off the solar system

  Incoming newbie?

I finally convinced an old friend of mine to install the CoX games I got him for his birthday a while back, at least for the first two free months. He's slightly skeptical, but I think the peer group here is a lot more to his taste than the idiots we encounter on World of Warcraft. x.x;
His name's Jesse, he's a math geek and a science-fiction fan (but not, by and large, into anime), and RPG player -- he GM'd an eight-year-long Champions campaign back in the 80s/90s. Smart, sarcastic, cynical.
We'll be setting his account up and loading the games sometime Sunday. I hope you can help me convince him to stick around... [Image: smile.gif]

  What the flying fuck?

This is the most disturbing bit of news I've heard in months.
Not to mention disgusting.
And no, for any of our residents whose usual good sense deserts them on political issues, he's not making it up.
I feel ill.

This is a rather impressive piece of work mapping connections and crossovers from a massive number of television works.

  "DMCA" in Canada
Posted by: TheTwisted1 - 11-29-2007, 10:14 PM - Forum: Politics and Other Fun - Replies (9)

For those of you who live in Canada, according to The Globe and Michael Geist, the government will be considering a new copyright bill, C-60, to meet the WIPO treaty obligations, which essentially copies the U.S. DMCA. Further, according to Geist, it eliminates fair-use exemptions: "There will be no flexible fair dealing. No parody exception. No time shifting exception. No device shifting exception. No expanded backup provision. Nothing."

I thought this might interest some of the writers on the board.
It has a few links to some interesting sites for writers that want to self publish.

  [meta] Need some characters
Posted by: robkelk - 11-29-2007, 06:36 AM - Forum: Fenspace - Replies (2)

I need a few characters for Legend of Galactic Girls. They're essentially walk-on roles, but I figured I'd offer the chance to create them to anyone
who felt like offering, in case somebody wanted to introduce any of these sorts of characters to Fenspace...

First, a television news announcer, preferably one who's cheerful without being saccharine. (If I don't get anyone here, I'll risk Comrade
Fnord's wrath and use the name "Maico Tange
".)

First-and-a-half, the name of a Fenspace-wide news service.

Second, an officious paper-pusher Browncoat. (Yeah, I know, but somebody has to run the
spaceport...)

Third, a bit-part zwilnick or two.

Thanks in advance...
