Unless I'm doing something wrong, that doesn't appear to be an option on the version currently on test.
Am I doing something wrong? '.'

  Warbiking! Er, make that 'CoHbiking'
Posted by: Mekadave - 11-02-2006, 12:48 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (3)

Now, I'm not NEARLY as out of shape as this guy, but I have a recumbent exercise bike (that I hardly use [Image: embarassed.gif] ) and a laptop that'll run CoX VERY well. This sounds like a great idea to get the exercise that I need and still feed my CoX addiction with the limited amount of time I have in the day.
CoHbiking FTW!!!

  Possible Infamous Coalition
Posted by: His Lovely Wife - 10-31-2006, 12:49 PM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (5)

Well, Marag Kesh made a friend yesterday, I know, who'd a thunk it. If someone could be on the look out for Side-winder, he's a good rper who was looking into his own VG and might be interested in a coalition with The Infamous. Yes I did try and invite him, he wanted to do his own thing.
He was level 7 when I saw him at Mikey the Ear.
In other news. I met this pair upon logging in and was VERY impressed with thier costumes. I think they were both MMs. There certainly seemed to be a lot of ninjas around anyway. And I just realized I never read thier bios.
What a pair
Let me look through my notes and I'll try and remember thier names.
ETA: Sephseraph and Sephiseraph. Sorry, don't remember whose who. Cool concept though!

Warmups for the Pocket D Halloween Party
Posted by: Mekadave - 10-31-2006, 01:40 AM - Forum: The Legendary - No Replies

Last night (Sunday 29th), I saw Manticore and Ghost Widow hanging out in Freedom's Pocket D. They were observing a costume contest that an SG (I forget which) was having. The thing that made this contest stand out was that everyone made costumes that were copies of, er *ahem*, HOMAGES to known characters. Some of them were pretty darn good, too.
Off the top of my head, there were
Captain America
Captain Marvel (the Shazam! one)
Superman
Robin
Aquaman
The Shadow
Lilo from The 5th Element
a pretty good Ghost Widow
and a whole bunch more that I forget.
Totally forgot to take screenies, too. [Image: sick.gif]
The funny part is that GW and Manti were checking out the costumes and enjoying it all. No GM hammer coming down.

...Spark of Compassion on Virtue, could they please offer her membership in the Legendary? She's Kat Avins' new toon, and she's expressed a desire for an invite. I couldn't do it because I was running all of last night with her using a brand new non-SG toon, X-Ray Ted.
You might want to also keep an eye out for Stone Fellow and Killer Kitsune (Joe Avins and Scott Pinkham, respectively), and offer them, as well.
Thanks.

  Gift For Drakensis
Posted by: Valles - 10-29-2006, 08:19 AM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (5)

Well, I read 'Where Angels Dare to Tread' and got ambushed by an idea bunny - a character design for an Angel. Since I don't know nearly enough about Angelic Layer to write a fic of my own, I thought I'd just turn it over to Drakensis for him to use or not as he likes.
Okay, start with the mental image: she's fairly tall, proportionally speaking - just an 'inch' or so short of 'six feet' - and, ahem, statuesque, with facial features to match... I'm picturing something halfway between Setsuna Meiou and Jennifer Connelly circa The Rocketeer, for reference. Her hair is... dark, shade uncertain, with long arcing 'only in anime' bangs that frame her face like Full Metal Panic's Kaname's, only moreso. Iria fans will recognize the source of the several long forelocks strung with beads just in front of her left ear, and the rest is pulled back in an extremely long Braid a la Maxwell, which is held by a ribbon that trails off in streamers rather than a bow or anything.
Her clothes are not oriented at providing fanservice; although they do do that, that feature only developed secondarily rather than being intrinsically part of her concept. The outfit's underlayer consists of a pair of fingerless gloves with padded knuckles, a pair of what look like armored all-stars, a racerback one-piece swimsuit, and... that's it. Like I said, service. The rest of the outfit is a floor-length European-style cloak with hood, something like this. The reason for the abbreviation of the rest of the outfit was to minimize the amount of weight spent on her actual outfit, so as to free that allowance up for adding to the hemline of the cloak.
The rules forbid weapons, but allow clothes. They do not prevent something which is - in theory - primarily the latter from serving as the former.
So, after a suitably showy entrance - I picture her Deus balancing her on their fingertip then just letting her tip forward and fall towards the layer before flipping midfall and landing in your classic 'down on one knee with hand spread for balance' pose as the cloak settles around her - she stands up and is completely hidden except for the braid, which she has flipped forward over one shoulder, the beads, and the bottom half of her face - everything else is covered by the cloak or its hood. Then, to get ready to actually fight, she pushes the hood back, slings the cloak back off of her left shoulder, and tosses her head to flip the braid back onto her back and out of the way before reaching behind her with her right arm to slip a couple of fingers through the loops sewn into the cloak's lining and swing it up to wrap around that arm.
In a fight the cloak can serve as an entangling weapon, to foul her opponent's moves, a brickbat, increasing reach and striking power at the expense of control and speed, a padded shield, adding to defense, or a sort of mutant knuckleduster, amplifying hitting power. Assuming that the cloak's fabric and the rest of her outfit and fittings come to a total of 'two kilograms', the other 'eight kilos' are divided evenly between about a dozen weights sewn into the hem.
BTW, the rules were altered to forbid this sort of exploit after hers and a couple of other cases. She remains tournament legal out of a combination of grandfather clausing and the fact that her strategy requires a significant amount of skill to pull off - IOW, she wasn't abusive enough to be unbalancing. The fact that her Deus is a likable good-sportsman type who's more interested in the quality of the play than in winning doubtless helps. In terms of statistical abilities, she's fairly balanced, with average speed and an emphasis on durability over striking power.
No, I'm not certain what her color scheme is, although I do know that it's dark colors and probably cool ones (as opposed to warm).
No, I don't know her name.
No, I don't know anything else about her player.
Ja, -n

  Trick or Treat (halloween ficlet)

"So why is Clank just standing there, again?" Jen Etroica panted as she fell back beside Hexane.
The other woman shrugged uncertainly. "I'm not sure, she said something about maintenance cycles. Techhead's the engineer though, not me. Only thing I know is that her 'bots will do what ever they have to to defend her."
Jan peered over the trunk of the car they were sheltering behind. "And if they realize that if they stop you from teleporting her into danger in the first place their job won't be so hard?"
"Ix-nay on the ogic-lay. Besides I don't think they're that intelligent." Hexane took her own look around the car. "Damn, looks like they've regrouped. Time to go back to work. Take the left flank and see if you can pick some of them off."
Ahead of them in the street the Streng massed for another charge and Clank Patrol's drones moved to meet them. Their skirmish line was ragged, with out the direction of their master, but their weapons staggered the Fir-Bolg minions, and then the support drone's heavy weapons opened up. The massed fire of the drones blew the front ranks of the charge apart, pelting the street with torn greenery and the gooey interior of magically animated pumpkins.
The Streng pressed forward, accepting their losses, determined to close with their enemy. Two near the right edge of the crowd went down as Hexane's own minions appeared from the shadows and swarmed them under. Swearing under her breath Hexane buried an arrow in a pumpkin's burning eye and reached for the darkness inside her.
"kage kijutsu: gen'ya gametsui!"*
Hexane braced herself against the car as her strength flowed out of her and into the tar patch she cast under the Fir-Bolg's feet. "Once a year. Just once a year. Only Europeans could be this stupid." Then with greater force as she drew her bow once more. "I hate Halloween!"
----
* Roughly (hopefully) "Shadow Magic: Grasping (greedy) Wasteland".
Thanks for the help that night Sweno, even if Clank didn't take that much of an active role at the end [Image: tongue.gif]
