  DW II Chapter 3
Posted by: zero sum mgame - 12-03-2002, 05:11 AM - Forum: Website - Replies (2)

Mr. Schroeck,
I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but I didn't see
it anywhere and thought you should know. In chapter 3,
there are several sets of quotation marks that appear as
though they should contain dialogue, but don't.
That said, keep up the good work.
Regards,
Jason McCulley

  Pink Floyd

Doug's already used a track from "The Wall" in DWII, but the imagery that Pink Floyd uses in their lyrics should be rich with plenty of nice hooks for his power.
Just off the top of my head:
"Learning to Fly" - Obviously flight, probably with a nice endorphin rush, since the song talks about the "state of bliss"
"One of These Days" - As the song says, the target of Doug's attacks gets "cut into itty, bitty pieces." However, since it is "one of these days," it doesn't happen until the end of the song.
"Time" - Either a localized aging of targets, or a psychic attack that inflicts a overwhelming sense of depression and mortality upon the target. Or perhaps, given the lyrics ("Fritter away the hours in an offhand way"), it makes them more concerned with idle interests, rather than important matters

  Dirty Laundry
Posted by: offsides - 12-01-2002, 10:43 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (5)

Heard Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" on the radio this afternoon, and thought it might be a fun one for Doug - two possibilities, though the second is fairly lame:
1) It allows Doug to discern someone's "dirty laundry" if they get within range of him - he might not have proof, but he knows where to find it.
2) It allows him to kick people at range as long as they're within his radius ("Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down).
'Course, I'm sure there are other amusing possibilities given all the fun lines in the song...

The only comment I can make is 'Dang, the next chapter is not Ranma 1/2" - *pouts in disappointment.

  Chapter 12 Released To FFML
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 12-01-2002, 04:30 AM - Forum: Drunkard's Walk II: Robot's Rules of Order - Replies (5)

After monumental effort to get my disabled computer back online, I sent chapter 12 off to the FFML. I have to go to a family gathering in five minutes, so webpages and RAAC postings must wait until later; my apologies.

RAAC not Updating - Post Story please?
Posted by: Logan Darklighter - 11-30-2002, 08:13 PM - Forum: Drunkard's Walk II: Robot's Rules of Order - Replies (14)

The last update at RAAC seems to have been on the 26th. And considering that it's Thanksgiving weekend, it doesn't look like it's going to be updated until at least Monday.
Please post story on the website soon? Please? Like maybe today? I have a 12 hour workshift coming up tonight and I'd like to read DWII tonight? Please?

  Medley Tracks
Posted by: Acyl - 11-28-2002, 07:50 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (1)

I was listening to Kansas' six-part "Magnum Opus" the other day, and it made me wonder...What does Doug's metatalent do to medley tracks? If it's one composed of several songs chained together, would that create a bewildering rapid switch in effects, or nothing at all? And what of "Magnum Opus"? It only has about forty seconds of lyrics ("Howling At The Moon") in the medley's eight and a half minutes. Not that "Howling At The Moon" suggests any obvious power, but, y'know, I'm curious on principle. We've seen Doug's fondness for "Lightning's Hand" and "Dust In The Wind", so has there been any call made on this particular Kansas track?
