  The Anime Addventure is dying.
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 09-12-2015, 06:19 PM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (32)

For those who don't know about it, the Anime Addventure is a collaborative fan fiction site.  It's kind of hard to explain without just sending you there; basically any "chapter" on the site is open to anyone following it up, and plot lines can fork or spawn endlessly.  At last count it had well over a quarter million individual episodes spread through hundreds of storylines.

But it might not get any more.  Kestrel (better known as Gregg "Metroanime" Sharp to those who started their fic reading in the 1990s) has abandoned the site after apparently being harassed in the "behind the story" comment threads, and a number of other prolific contributors seem to have vanished with him.  The site, which used to get anywhere from five to fifteen new episodes a day, has had only eight new posts since August 1.

I'm not trying to rally people to save the Addventure -- I can barely focus on my regular writing, let alone responding to a round robin collaborative site.   I just wanted to alert folks to its possible end so they can find and save favorite storylines, like "No Tendo" and "A Rose At Hogwarts".

Do you run Windows? Do you have automatic updates turned on?

Do you run Windows? Do you have Windows Update left on the default setting of "automatic updates"? Congratulations; http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/09/10 ... _download/]you have a copy of Windows 10, whether you wanted it or not. Hope you don't pay for your Internet connection by the GB...

(This is why I always change Windows Update to "notify but do not automatically download".)

So my husband and I just bought our first house. As in, closed on it yesterday, took possession of it today. My first task as the handyman of the house (my husband should NOT be near powertools, his words) was to change the locks today.

  Stealing Doug's Act

I've been reading the Baka-Tsuki translation of the light novel Amagi Brilliant Park, and in the installment I checked today was the following passage:

Quote:Moffle leapt up at the charging dragon, dodging the claw
that came slamming down.  He dashed
toward it and positioned himself right below the jaw.

He did an uppercut with a maxed out EXE drive, in a manner
similar to a Street Fighter Shin Shoryuken.
The only difference being the target was not a person, but a huge-ass
dragon.  Nonetheless, Moffle had hit one
of its weak spots, causing the dragon to tumble over.

I checked the anime version on Animehere.  Yes, the scene is there, too.

I thought of just putting it in the ROFL thread, but there is the connection here....

Subj: Who wants to go fast and get paid?

Situation Vacant: Position available as Pilot for up and coming racecraft manufacturer factory squadron. Performance based renumeration to be negotiated. The succesful applicant will be both willing and able to provide technical feedback as part of continuous spacecraft development, be suitable for RF-47 Kulbit flight suit and cockpit, and have relevant race experience. Specific combat experience is not a requirement. Applicant must also be flexible, and be willing to lend a hand to a spanner, or to any publicity work that may be required. Team player is a must, no Schumachers.

The succesful applicant will pass an initial technical interview, before being given a test flight in Daryl Haur's championship-winning RF-47 Kulbit-A to determine their true skill level and capability.

In return, we offer this; The Pilot's seat of an RF-47 Kulbit-B which is more than capable of outright winning the ARR Warbirds championship in the right hands.

The question you have to ask yourself. Are those your hands?

If the answer is yes, respond with a suitably impressive C.V. to RedefiningSpeed@asagiri.Fen. before the 30th of this month.

This last weekend was http://ndkdenver.org]Nan Desu Kan, the Rocky Mountain region's premier anime convention, and as staff I was naturally busier than a one-legged man in an asskicking contest. Despite this, I still managed to get some commissions in and back before artist's alley closed.

First off, I'd like to introduce a character who's had a couple mentions in timelines and a brief discarded scene in Candle. Meet the eldest child of the extended Fnord-Hasegawa-Weatheral family, Jade:

The outfit is part of a thing I've been kicking around for something that may or may not end up as a ASOIAF crossover fic, tentatively dubbed The Westerosi. Probably won't happen but you never know. Wink

The next picture is a Candle commission because it wouldn't leave me alone. So here's Melissa Steiner and Misha Auburn cosplaying as MIBs:

Misha's incredibly dubious expression pretty much sold this picture for me. %)

Last but not least, have a shot of Sora with a wrench:

(Art by http://gkaaihue.com/index.html]G. Kaaihue, who was really happy I commissioned from him.)

(Sora) "Huh, I didn't think my garage outfit was so... cheesecake-y."
(Tina) "Some girls got it, some girls don't sweetie. You especially have it in coveralls and a tank top."
