New thread starts here.
It's a good point that the TVT roleplayers won't be bothering to update the relevant pages here, but yes, if someone wants to post analyses instead of archives, I'd certainly welcome them. Maybe we should put a message-of-the-day to that effect on the front page?

So. I got around to attempting to actually use the oldish laptop my mother gave me over the holidays, beyond "Yup, it boots!" and it turns out there's something very peculiar going on with it - if any software besides IE or Norton tries to send data, the wireless connection drops, and it does so anyway every minute or two. This doesn't happen if it's booted in Safe Mode + Networking, but that doesn't tell me what's actually causing the problem...
Any ideas?

Trivia: Who are Fenspace's Plutocrats? |

I seem to recall we had a thread some years ago about Fenspace's "super-rich," but we never got around to saying exactly who they were.
So here's my candidate list. - At the top is Chris Marsden (owner and CEO of Greenwood), followed closely by Noah Scott (owner and CEO of StellviaCorp).
- A slightly-distant third is Padraig O'Niell (owner and CEO of CHOAM).
- After these three comes Don Antonio Esposito (who ... *ahem* ... operates a Family business).
- Then there's The Jason (the preeminent Mad Biologist/Geneticist of Fenspace).
But there are others who might qualify for the list: the McManuses (who put Pallas in a plastic bag), A.C. Peters (Fenspace's top Mad Cyberneticist), Robur ("the other guy with a private station"), and the folks at Hephaestus and JMC (they own Hephaestus and JMC, respectively) come to mind. Should they - or others I've forgotten - be on the list? If so, where?
And is Don Antonio richer than The Jason?
(Note that the Stellvians, excepting Noah, are not super-rich. Much of Yayoi's seed money went to the Senshi back in the First Fen days, keeping them alive long enough to become a Major Faction; Sora's wealth was collectivized by the Soviets with her permission; Korhan's went up in multiple explosions; and so on. That doesn't mean they aren't wealthy enough to own private asteroids if they want, just that they aren't part of "the 1%.")

[Fenwiki DeStub Project] Hogsmeade |

It's been a while since we've done one of these, and this is the capital city of one of the Major Factions. The page is on both the stub and "requires cleanup" lists, so it's a prime candidate for the Fenwiki DeStub Project Here's what we know so far, laid out in the standard Wikipedia format for a city.
Located on [[10 Hygiea], in [[the Main Belt], '''Hogsmeade''' is the capital and largest city of '''[[The Wizarding World]'''.
==History==
==Geography==
==Neighbourhoods and outlying communities==
==Cityscape and infrastructure==
The city spaceport, '''Chudley Aerospace Port''', is just outside the main dome.
==Demographics==
==Local government and politics==
==Education==
'''[[Hogwarts]''', the Wizarding World's preeminent educational facility, is just outside Hogsmeade.
The [[Vesta Institute of Robotics] has a small satellite campus at Hogsmeade. This campus researches computer daemon summoning and other technomagical fields, and is considered by the rest of the VIR to be where the crackpots hang out.
==Economy==
==Culture==
Hogsmeade is home to three [[quidditch] teams, including the '''Chudley Cannons'''.

Okay. I've been patient with Windows 8.1 after a catastrophic HD failure and inability to find my Windows 7 installer... until I'd forked over the bills for the disc, etc etc...
And apparently MikeyShaft doesn't like folks building their own computers or daring to "upgrade" without being a bleeding edge OEM consumer.
My drivers are a mess because apparently Plug-and-play is no longer a thing: anything that depended on MS drivers is pretty much dead in the water, like a MIDI Keyboard Controller, to try to do some electronic music, for example.
Thus, as soon as I get an extra HD RAID'ed into my box, I'm Dual booting Ubuntu Studio 14.xx. Sunk cost fallacy and all, I've got too many things I've heard don't play well with WINE that do work on Win 8.1...
So. Yeah.

Quote:AMERICAN SPACE Agency NASA announced today a $2bn scrappage deal with an Irish Traveler family to collect over 4,000 dormant satellites orbiting the earth.
John Anthony Connors from Limerick and his 14 brothers Jamsie, Paddy, Micky, Joseph, Mikey, Peter, Mick, John Paul, Aiden, Steven, Joey, Jamsie and Michael will travel to a special training facility in Cape Canaveral in Florida to undergo an intensive six month course in space exploration.
NASA spokesperson Todd Chambers told WWN the Connors family actually approached them about the floating space debris.
“They were very insistent on the phone and the conversation took quite some time as they were all talking at once. It was quite disorientating.” recalled Chambers, a test-pilot turned public relations manager for the space agency. “We eventually arranged a meeting in county Limerick and before we knew it we struck a deal by spitting into our hands and shaking. It happened very fast.”
The Irish travelers, who have over 50 years experience in dealing with scrap metal, believe the mission to last “well over a year” and are expected to dispose of the orbiting junk themselves.
“We have plenty of places tha’ will pay top dollar for that kinda gear.” explained John Anthony Connors, who appointed himself as project manager after a brief scuffle with his brother Peter. “Don’t be worrying where we puts them at’ll. We have all that sorted now to be true.”
Concerned for ‘live satellites’, NASA forced the group to sign a contract stating they will stay clear of objects like the International Space Station.
“We wouldn’t touch them now cause there be payple in them.” said the 35-year-old traveling man. “T’wouldn’t be fair on ‘em like, ya know?”
The Connors’ first mission into space will launch on the 19th of October 2014.
