  Warframe - Surprisingly fun.
Posted by: Dragonflight - 05-01-2013, 01:15 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (19)

Like it says, I've been testing out Warframe. I'm not a big fan of random PuG-ing, so I do a lot of it solo. But so far, I'm really impressed with what I've seen.
Anyone else tried it?

Have you backed up YOUR PC today?

Just a friendly reminder to back up your PC, and not click errant banners.  I caught the Department of Justice Ransomware bug thats going around today and a system restore saved my ass (and a car drive).  6 hours later and i'm still dealing with it however.
And if you don't know what that is...

  FenTV
Posted by: DeputyJones - 04-30-2013, 11:51 PM - Forum: Fenspace - Replies (2)

I mentioned in my Pavonis article that Altimit Corporation offers "Internet and television service." Also, we all know about ZNN, but what about other fen television tomfoolery? I imagine there's a few television networks in fenspace among the moderate to major sized factions.
In light of this assumption, I present one such network...
The Interplanetary Broadcasting Company (IBC).
This particular network started out at Marsbase Sara, but eventually felt overshadowed by competitor Marsbase Broadcasting Service (MBS). They relocated to Sheffield and have since expanded to three channels, IBC 1 to IBC 3. IBC 1 is generally news and educational programming while the other two vary, usually consting of movies, syndicated programs, and material from the Whole Fenspace Catelog.
Just a thing that came to me and I wrote up in about seven minutes. Opinions?

The Hardest Part of Anything New...

...is naming it.
I'm about to get a new laptop- a Lenovo X230 with the works.  It's a personally-owned work machine- light on the graphics, but heavy on power, endurance, and portability.(How many 12.5" laptops do you know of with a 3Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, three SSDs, and 20ish hours of battery life?  This one.)
I'm planning to load it up with the newest version of Mint Linux, and then throw on virtual machines- Windows XP and 7, to be sure, but possibly Mac OS as well.  I'm not ruling out a Win8 VM, either- one of the goals here is for this guy to be able to pass for any other machine here (save for the engineering machines- this ain't running Solidworks on its best day).
But what name should it have?

  The First Website
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 04-30-2013, 02:33 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

http://first-website.web.cern.ch/]CERN has restored the very first website to a state as close as they can get it to its original content, and plan on expanding this effort to other sites that were hosted on CERN at the birth of the Web.  This link is to their page about the project, not the first website itself, which is linked inside that article -- and it probably goes without saying that trying to get to the original website right now is impossible due to the immense amount of traffic already trying to see it.  Wait a few days before you try.

...but you have to tell me who she is first.

I needed a catgirl for a project elsewhere. I created one who looks rather younger than the stereotype. Tell me about her Fenspace version, and she's your character.

Oh, yes - you probably can't tell because of the lack of reference points in this image, but she's only half as tall as my usual characters.

I would have put this in the Videos thread, but it's just a still. I would have put it in The Game, but I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW what Doug's powers would make of this freaky shti. It's just... warped and twisted and happy and scary and all around wrong, and therefore perfect for H/J shipping. Argh, my head.

Now why did I not think of this before?

I decided to use the dual monitor set-up that is available in the graphics cardin my new pc, since it has dual monitor. Bought and HDMI cable and a HDMI to DVI adapter. Hooked both ends tp the appropriate slots. And then set up to extend the displays. Now I can watch HD on the big screen! Hoo-aah!

You know what would be useful? A list of differences between the Mundane Governments of Fenspace and the political climate of OTL. Doesn't have to be too detailed, just what's been established somewhere. I know, for instance, that somebody other than Barack Obama won the US 2008 Presidential Election, but I can't remember who, and having a central listing of that kind of thing would be convenient.
