Everybody has probably seen this site, but I just discovered it, so...
Quote:He's an
uncontrollable guerilla librarian haunted by memories of 'Nam. She's a
violent antique-collecting archaeologist from a different time and
place. They fight crime!
Is it just me, or does this come awfully close to certain iterations of the Doctor and River Song, if you replace 'Nam with the Last Great Time War?

I'm pretty sure most of you already know about this, but I just stumbled across a great article about the thinking, design and engineering behind it, as well as an update on its progress. (Plus, it's a great intro to the idea behind the clock for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about.) Here.

| Some thoughts on the "Infobox company" |

I just looked through the infobox company (which has been imported from Wikipedia I think), and I think we can do better for Fenspace:
Quote:{{Infobox company
| name =
| logo =
| caption =
| type =
| traded_as =
| genre =
| fate =
| predecessor =
| successor =
| foundation =
| founder =
| defunct =
| location_city =
| location_country =
| location =
| locations =
| area_served =
| key_people =
| industry =
| products =
| services =
| revenue =
| operating_income =
| net_income =
| aum =
| assets =
| equity =
| owner =
| num_employees =
| parent =
| divisions =
| subsid =
| homepage =
| footnotes =
| intl =
}}
I think we should get rid of the following points:
| revenue =
| operating_income =
| net_income =
| aum =
| assets =
| equity =
Fenspace economics only work with lots of handwaving, better keep people from inserting numbers.
The four "location" entries could be compacted into a single "location" entry. No need to overcomplicate it.
In addition to this I think adding entries for "allies" and "enemies", as would be a point for "stereotypes" (similar to the faction infobox). A "Official languages" might be good too, especially for independent companies.
What do you think ?

...with all the Pocky I can eat.
So, Eirtakon, Irelands oldest and largest anime convention is entering it's sixth year with a bang. And I'm sitting here an hour after doors-open already flat broke, with a bag full of Gunpla and a moto-slave kit that's real special, 4 whole series of anime and I'm waiting for Otaku no Video to begin.
It's looking like it's going to be another epic year here.

Well, we have a 3d resources thread, but that refers more towards using them to make pretty pictures. I was thinking more of something like this.
Since there is currently a sale on complete DIY kits I decided to finally take advantage of it.
There is thingverse, which has all kinds of cool stuff, like this math toy, or this Ultimate cos-player tool.
I could make the models myself but I haven't done that since I was a freshman in college, I have no clue about the current generation of tools. So does anyone have other cool things to share?
E: "Did they... did they just endorse the combination of the JSDF and US Army by showing them as two lesbian lolicons moving in together and holding hands and talking about how 'intimate' they were?"

There was a lottery over on the Daz forums today - the first 100 people to follow the rules got to pick a number between 1 and 100, and four of those numbers were connected to prizes. I picked the very last available number... and won http://www.daz3d.com/i/shop/itemdetails/?item=13039]this mechanical beastie.
(Yeah - I almost never win anything. I was just taking the number so the lottery winners could be announced. Go figure.)
I really should use it in a render, but I'm coming up blank. So... Who in Fenspace might use something like this, and against whom would it be used? Any ideas, anyone?

That would be today, naturally, 11/11/11, and especially at 11:11:11. I was on the way to the dentist in the morning, but having napped off my screwy reaction to the anethetic I expect to be good for the PM.
Anyone else?

Marma-Lad!
(FZASH!)
Zesty, like a streak of orange rind in the night!
(WHOOSH!)
Evil-doers are toast with MARMA-LAD on the case!
(SPLURRT!)
With their get-away car tangled in sticky gel, those bank robbers will never escape the justice of MARMA-LAD!
(Childen laugh and a merry-go-round squeaks as it spins)
And MARMA-LAD is welcomed by the community!
(A late-teen boy with spiked up red-orange hair, a yellow-orange bodyglove, and a darker cape lifts and spins a girl in the ages 9-12 demographic around, then sets her on the ground and speaks to the camera as she hugs him, not tall enough to reach above mid-torso.)
"I'm Marma-Lad, and I look foreward to being a productive member of the team. Thanks for watching the tape!"
