A Song to Lie By |

You're Gonna Go Far Kid, by Offspring. (Has explicit lyrics)
Show me how to lie, you’re getting better all the time
And turning all against the one is an art that’s hard to teach
Another clever word sets off an unsuspecting herd
And as you step back in the line a mob jumps to their feet
Now dance, fucker, dance, man, he never had a chance
And no one even knew, it was really only you
And now you steal away
Take him out today
Nice work you did
You’re gonna go far, kid
With a thousand lies and a good disguise
Hit ‘em right between the eyes, hit ‘em right between the eyes
When you walk away, nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes, see ‘em running for their lives
Slowly outta line and drifting closer in your sights
So play it out I’m wide awake, it’s a scene about me
There’s something in your way and now someone is gonna pay
And if you can’t get what you want, well, it’s all because of me
Now dance, fucker, dance, man, I never had a chance
And no one even knew, it was really only you
And now you’ll lead the way
Show the light of day
Nice work you did
You’re gonna go far, kid
Trust, deceived
With a thousand lies and a good disguise
Hit ‘em right between the eyes, hit ‘em right between the eyes
When you walk away, nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes, see ‘em running for their lives
Now dance, fucker, dance, he never had a chance
And no one even knew, it was really only you
So dance, fucker, dance, I never had a chance
It was really only you
With a thousand lies and a good disguise
Hit ‘em right between the eyes, hit ‘em right between the eyes
When you walk away, nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes, see ‘em running for their lives
Clever alibis, Lord of the Flies
Hit ‘em right between the eyes, hit ‘em right between the eyes
When you walk away, nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes, see ‘em running for their lives
I was thinking that this isn't a song that Doug would probably use very often, but one that an evil alternate of his would love. My idea for what the song would do is either let Doug (or an evil version of Doug) pick one person, and then, while the song is playing, say whatever he wants to about that person, so long as its something negative and whoever hears what he says while the song is playing (aside from the speaker, and the one being spoken about) will believe whatever he said (so long as it is fairly simple, something a mob mentality would understand like "That man is a murderer!"), even after the song ends, and not remember who told them those things. Or, it would let Doug (or evil Doug) tell an immensely complex lie to a single person, and have it be believed.
My first encounter with this song was from this video, which I later discovered is an faster version of the original, with higher vocals, and was apparently made for that video. The original version is a bit slower, and about twenty seconds longer. (I didn't do much digging, this is the first video that I found when I did a search for the song. There probably are better videos up.) Maybe one version could generate the mob effect, and the other the individual effect?

One ping only... Since I can't seem to find specifications for modern USN uniforms anywhere, I figured you might be able to help.
I'm thinking of doing a few renders for the Fall of Boskone Prime, but for that I need to know what the people in the scenes are wearing. What does a Naval nurse wear when on-duty and aboard ship?
For that matter, what would a submarine captain wear when on-duty and aboard ship? (Did Down Periscope get it right?)
Edit: Oh, yes - I know what the rules are for respect in the Canadian Forces, but they might be different in the US Forces. Would a Navy Captain salute an Air Force General?

I was looking at the newest Negima at Mangafox when I accidentally clicked on the advertised links and ended up picking up a malware I'm familiar with. It's the one where it masquerades as the XP security icon and tries to make you go to a site to remove the supposedly found viruses. I had zone alarm up and it still went thru. I knew the drill to remove it but it took me 2 hours to do it. What a pain.
