Bob's said that Triumph's "Magic Power" is a power song (sensibly enough), but maddeningly, he hasn't said what the power is. Possibilities:1: Everyone within earshot who needs to gain knowledge or understanding experiences the required epiphany ("Then you hear the music, and it all comes crystal clear")
2: Emotional bolstering. Calming, centering, and generally making it clear that things are better than they seem.
3: Effect: Instil Confidence/Persistence. ("Well the music keeps you goin' and it's never gonna stop")
4: Most gatesongs (the ones Doug actually finds and uses, anyway) are about going home or returning to loved ones. But "Magic Power" has the remotest possibility of being a gatesong away from somewhere ("The music's got the magic, it's your one chance for escape")

Most likely is #2. All the others are single powerful lines, and #2 has over a verse going for it.
Thoughts?

I had a little trouble getting it to work, but it's worth the effort.

In short it is every major portion of the various theme songs for Dr. Who laid out so that you can "play" them in nearly any pattern you want.

There are, as you're probably aware, quite a number of "Harry in Azkaban" fics. A sizable number of them - probably the majority - are of the subgenre "Harry gets betrayed by his friends and/or allies and sentenced to Azkaban" fics; no few of them involve Harry acquiring, awakening or otherwise receiving some form of power there (whether political, magical, or both), generally either by discovering a secret of the island or outright inheriting the place.

A couple of nights ago, those general scenarios rearranged themselves in my head into a new configuration, and now I'm wondering if anyone has ever done a fic in which Harry's friends and/or allies learn of the existence of such a power and conspire (probably with his knowledge) to get him sent to Azkaban, specifically so that he can pick it up.

Have any of you run across such a fic?

Also, since I'd rather not start a thread just for one question like that, does anyone have any other similarly offbeat takes on standard fanfic storylines? I think I may have a couple more in the background of my mind somewhere, but I'd have to do some work to dig them up.

(Of course, quite a few Halloween fics got their start as an attempt at just such an unusual twist on a standard storyline, to the point that I'm not sure there are any ideas left in that genre which are original enough not to seem like just a version of something that's already been done and are also still worth reading.)

I don't want to take away from the excitement from CoH:GR any. But my subscription ran out and while I spent a couple of days out of game waiting for the opportunity of funds to continue, I was playing Champions Online, which I had re-upped about a month back to check on. (And it's about to run out too. But that's ok. My sub for City of Heroes is back up.)
Anyway, while CO is still a bit light in the content department, it HAS improved. The devs seem to be making better choices now. I won't bore you with the details. But suffice to say, I think they got their heads knocked around enough by the playerbase to start listening. There's a lot of little tweaks that make the game a lot more fun to play. Some re-balancing of things. Melee's a LOT better now, etc, etc...
ANYway. Just by way of explaining what I was doing. So I was playing my usual main characters. But I was perusing the Eyrie Forums going through the archives (for what, I cannot now remember) when I came across this post right here.
And was INSPIRED.
And though my favorite game is still CoH. I KNEW that Champions - for this one thing - would definitely work better.
