As ADV, that is - they've undergone a major reorganization.
Just the facts, ma'am: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... -companies]ADV Films Shuts Down Parent Transfers Assets to Other Companies
Informed commentary: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/editori ... -adv-films]What's Happening with ADV Films
Now, if I'm reading this correctly, ADV is getting out from under the thumb of a hostile shareholder, shaking up the corporate management, and splitting the less-profitable arms off into separate businesses while keeping their core-competency mostly-intact, at the cost of its name (one of the most recognizable in North-American anime fandom). Here's hoping it works, although I can't see any reason why it shouldn't.

So upon coming back from the trip this weekend, I turn on my computer, and...hangs on boot.
So I try a hard reset, and it comes up. But mail takes about 10 minutes to boot. Then the HD locks and starts making hard clicking sounds.
Yep, HD failure.
Lost quite a bit. I was NOT pleased. Nothing irriplaceable, mostly savegames and the lick, but still, DAMNIT.
I went and installed Vista 32, since it was what I had on hand, and I'll be handing this computer down to my wife in a month when I get a new computer with
Win7 on it. Spent the evening installing stuff on it. JOY.

So, this weekend, I was at a convention for the TV show Supernatural, run by Creation. My wife is a *huge* fan and I went along.
Some observations from my previous con experience (anime, mostly):
1) The WAITING. As a Gold or Silver attendee, you got autographs. Depending on the star (and how strict their security was) it was anywhere from TWO to FIVE
hours wait, and they did them in order of tickets.
2) The vendor's room is lackluster in comparison to the anime ones I've been at. It was all stuff you could buy on Creation's site.
3) Creation treats the fans like shit, pardon my language.
4) There really wasn't much to do. Go to a panel, wait for the autograph, wait for the next panel, repeat. All one room.
5) Did I mention the waiting?
Notes on the guests:
1) AJ Buckley and Travis Wester (who played the Ghostfacers) are entertaining.
2) Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles are clearly worked to the bone, and are good sports for their fans.
3) Misha Collins is a twisted, strange, funny man.
4) Jim Beaver is awesome.
Notes as a GUY:
1) Ye gods, the estrogen. Women to Man ratio was easily 30 to 1.
2) Apparently, my physical archetype for what I find attractive is sci-fi fangirl. (Busty, hippy, not very tall, a little padding all over.)
3) Gentlemen, if you're single and with me on #2 there, you need to take notice of #1. Wow.

Well,
Our home internet service has been out since 3:30am Saturday morning and the collected heads of knuckle at our provider cannot provide a useful estimate as to
when the service will be restored.
Needless to say, it best South Park fashion, I will be drawing pictures and saying click. (Irony - I had just watched the South Park Grapes of Wrath parody the
night before.)
