  Teaser #2 for Chapter 6
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 03-14-2008, 07:07 PM - Forum: Drunkard's Walk V: Another Divine Mess You've Gotten Me Into - Replies (5)

Hidden in the shadow of the temple bell's sheltering roof,
Belldandy and Keiichi watched as Megumi and Skuld spoke briefly
at the gate. Keiichi stood behind Belldandy with his arms wrapped
around her waist and his chin -- barely -- resting on her
shoulder; her hands were clasped over his, and she had inclined
her head slightly so that her temple rested against Keiichi's
cheek.

They were too far away to hear the discussion, nor would they
have made the effort to eavesdrop if they could, but even at this
distance they could see the vehemence and anger in Megumi's
expression. As Megumi stormed out the gate, Belldandy made a
wordless sound of concern, and Keiichi gave her the faintest
gentle squeeze in equally wordless reassurance.

The two watched in silence as Skuld slowly made her way back to
the house. When the door had shut behind her, Belldandy turned
in Keiichi's arms to face him and he relaxed his embrace to let
her; before she could speak, though, he leaned forward and
kissed her.

Drawing back, he looked deep into her eyes, which were filled
with fear and worry.

"I know what you're going to say," he said softly. "No."

"But..." she began.

Keiichi shook his head. "I'm not going to leave. I don't care
how dangerous this might get." He reached down and took her
hand in his; raising it to his lips, he kissed her knuckles and
then squeezed it gently. "Together, forever, remember? That
doesn't just mean you staying with me. It means *me* staying
with *you*, too." He kissed her hand again. "No matter what."

A tremulous smile slowly materialized on her lips as her eyes
began to shine. "Oh, Keiichi."

"Whither thou goest," he whispered, "there go I."

  Guyver Scanslations
Posted by: Evil Midnight Lurker - 03-14-2008, 10:31 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

I'm not sure how many folks on this forum are fans of Bio-Booster Armor Guyver.  I know Blade and Epsilon hang around, and they certainly are -- at least enough to incorporate it into their little self-insert apocalypse. Smile
There are existing scanslations of the manga by a group called Guyver Advocacy, but to be frank, they're not the best in the world -- inconsistent, fractured grammar, and I think they're working from the Chinese editions, so we're getting a secondhand product.  Recently, I decided that I might be able to improve on their translation; I have most of the original Japanese-language edition, a vague knowledge of Japanese, and enough dictionaries and kanji guides to do someone serious injury in a fall. ^.^  So, using GA's scans as a base since I lack regular access to a scanner, I've deleted their text and substituted my own.  Let me know if you guys like it enough to warrant posting more.
I've started from volule 10, chapter 60, right after the end of the 2005 TV anime and the debut of the Guyver Gigantic.  I hope to get at least one chapter a month done, maybe one a week if I can find the time.

  Supergroup Recruitment: The Elseworlds Phalanx
Posted by: Evil Midnight Lurker - 03-13-2008, 10:44 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (11)

New on Virtue, founded by Skye: a villan group composed entirely of evil alternate versions of the Heroes of Paragon City, whether pulled in by Portal Corp,
cloned by Science Gone Mad, or whatever.

Membership so far is Skye's Blitzartig, a Nazi Synapse; Stormgear's Knight of Malta, an alternate Infernal (a Malta op with Bat'Zul bound within
him); and my own Pizarro Statesman, inappropriate duplicate of Marcus Cole driven by the insane desire to conquer Peru.

In the remote chance that anyone has any slots left free on Virtue, we hope you'll join us. Feel free to create duplicates of heroes we've already
got, too -- the more alternate Statesmen the better. [Image: smile.gif]

ETA: A little variety in powersets would be good though. As it happens, we're all Elec/* Science Brutes. o.O;

right here: http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_update12.html

Light on details and big on hype, but if half of what it promises... yikes.

For me, the key points (not that I'll be able to make use of them anytime soon, with my leveling rate, but still):

* Epic archetypes for villains -- 'bout time

* Powerset proliferation -- could be good, could be very very bad, I dunno

* Hollows makeover -- THANK YOU

* Roman-style costume pieces -- this is the Nift.

So. Issue 12. Hoo boy.

  Jack Bauer Vs. Japan?

One can see online videos of two ads for Calorie Mate starring Kiefer Sutherland, parodying the style of the show "24." As always with popular
American actors in Japanese comercials, the result is rather entertaining.

So, everyone mark your calendars, sometime in October there will be a little Darkling running around. OK, not running, flailing helplessly possibly.

Yes, Rev and I are pregnant. Me more than him, but he's co-operating nicely.

If you're sending happy thoughts, focus them behind my belly button.

Bettie Page has put on his rocketpack and soared away for the very last time.

Excuse me. After Gary Gygax, and Janet Kagan, and Jeff Healey this past week and a half, I want to send a memo to God:

"Lord? All due respect, your holiness, but would you tell your angel of death to switch to FUCKING DECAF
ALREADY???!?!?! "

"I"m serious! Tell him to put DOWN the fucking scythe and just WALK AWAY for a week or two, OKAY?? Or go to
fucking Havana and whack Castro for some FUCKING BALANCE okay? Would you do that? Please?"

I really want to just cry, damnit...

Well, it's been done for various other fandoms, so why not? What've y'all seen in the way of interesting fanfiction about the Inner Sphere or
Clans? Particular props to anything that moots or voids the WizKids 'reset' or involves bitchslapping the Word of Blake but good.

Yuku isn't adjusting for Daylight Savings Time. (I'd hoped that would have been one bug that got left behind on ezBoard... )

Edit: The "Use My Time" feature near the bottom of the page is also not adjusting for Daylight Savings Time.
