  Finally finished Stellvia
Posted by: LilFluff - 03-10-2008, 08:35 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

Some of you may recall my posting this picture last year...

I can now state two things. Konpeito is indeed potentially addictive (despite or perhaps because it is almost pure sugar), and my Stellvia DVDs are going to be
keepers and not sold or traded any time soon.

A good ending, despite leaving the details of one of the story elements (the mysterious ships) only ever so partially answered. I think Vandread I & II
shall be up next...

You have to wonder how the job description reads...

Seen on the Inquirer: http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/ ... ntious-moi]Preposterous job title of the weak (sp)

Exactly what does a "Metaverse Evangelist" do, anyway? It's a job at IBM, so it (probably) doesn't have anything to do with fanfiction...

Too cool - CDs in cardboard sleeves
Posted by: robkelk - 03-10-2008, 03:33 AM - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Occasionally, a band will release a CD in a cardboard sleeve, to make it look a lot like an old LP release. (Only smaller.) Sometimes the label will do this with re-issues, using the original LP jacket art. There's about a hundred of these CD for sale http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/music/c_sleeve ... ndex4.html]at CD Japan right now (including ELO's Out of the Blue, which has one of Doug's power songs on it).

For the complete "just like an LP (only smaller)" experience, don't forget to get a pack of http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=NEOTS-5613]anti-static inner sleeves with your order... 8)

...(figuratively speaking) last night in Steel Canyon on Justice, after a Rikti attack -- Ardaniel and Chad Collier from EPU. I spent some time chatting with
Ard, and she suggested that the Legendary should coalition with their Virtue-based SG, the Paragon City Justice Guild. So if anyone with coalition rights is on
before I am, and you get the opportunity, please go ahead and set that up, okay? Thanks!

  New Yoko Kanno CD
Posted by: robkelk - 03-08-2008, 01:43 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

I understand perfectly that some companies would want a big-name composer such as Yoko Kanno to write music for their commercial spots.

I understand perfectly that a big-name composer such as Yoko Kanno would be happy to take money to write music for commercial spots.

I understand that she would do so ofen enough to fill a CD with said spots.

I barely understand that being able to fill a CD might mean filling a CD.

But why do they expect http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=GTCA-12]a CD filled with Yoko Kanno's commercial spots to sell?

Maybe I just don't understand the Japanese...

Whee! Finally had an idea for MACSS-01's bio!
Posted by: Logan Darklighter - 03-07-2008, 10:21 PM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (3)

Hehe... I all of a sudden had this new idea for the background of MACSS.
A bunch of genius kids building a giant robot and taking turns piloting him by remote through Paragon City.
So MACSS is a remote-piloted robot. Team MACSS is
Mark - the Hot-headed excitable kid who's kind of the "idea" guy. Lots of imagination.
Alex - The quieter, moody one. Friendly rival to Mark, it's a constant game of "hey! watch THIS!" between the two of them.
Colin - The logistics guy. Always fiddling with the tech and the numbers. The one who takes care of maintenance the most, and takes MACSS out the least, and is most upset when it comes back with damage...
Samantha - Colin's younger sister. They had to let her onto the team or she'd tell their parents what they're up to...
Sean - The computer software guy. Socially stunted. Knows far more about hacking computer systems than what is really good for him.
They're all students at Paragon Preparatory Institute, a school for gifted youngsters. They're all geniuses to one degree or another. PPI is west of the city outside of the warwalls.
They're "stoked" to use Mark's term, that they've gotten in with The Legendary. Working with real heroes! Plus, it gives them a place to park the MACSS bot when they want to hide it from the school...

So now I have a thoroughly unique take on the character. I'm pleased. ^_^

  Off-topic: Terry Pratchett books
Posted by: Sofaspud - 03-07-2008, 09:02 PM - Forum: The Legendary - No Replies

I'm doing some spring cleaning (hah!) and came across my late uncles treasure trove of Terry Pratchett books.

Now, castigate me if you must, but, I don't like Terry Pratchett's stuff, mostly.

I seem to recall *someone* in The Legendary liked Pratchett's work... if so, contact me privately (sofaspud.prime AT gmail
with-the-DOT-and-the-COM-and-the-oy) if you want to go through the list or want them all, for that matter. They're all paperbacks, I've got multiple
copies of some, and they're all in excellent condition. I don't like seeing books go to waste, so I'm going to donate whichever I can't give
away.

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I wanted to offer them to y'all first. [Image: smile.gif] Back to your regularly scheduled forum!

  Progress report
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 03-07-2008, 08:55 PM - Forum: Drunkard's Walk V: Another Divine Mess You've Gotten Me Into - Replies (7)

Okay, the high points, quickly:

While it's not a surprise, the chapter is running longer than we were hoping. I think it's a foregone conclusion that it'll be split into two shortly.

However, Chris and I are each stalled on a scene. Yes, that's two different scenes that we're writing separately and at the same time. We can't really split the chapter and release the first part as chapter 5 until we break through our blocks and complete those scenes, because they're part of what would be the first part. Once we do, though, there's only one more scene in that segment.

Whether we split the current chapter 6 or not, this is the end of the story. Everything comes to a head and everything's resolved by the end of the current development file.

So... just be patient with us, okay? Thanks.

  Teaser For Chapter 6
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 03-07-2008, 08:50 PM - Forum: Drunkard's Walk V: Another Divine Mess You've Gotten Me Into - Replies (14)

I watched in frank fascination as Belldandy simply picked up the
very mundane telephone and punched at least twenty digits into
its keypad. I resisted the urge to shake my head, but geeze, the
way Celestials did things in this universe. Every time I thought
I understood them, there was a new twist.

A *telephone* link to Heaven?

"Weird" just did *not* cover it.

But I made a mental note to try the redial if I had a chance.

(What? I had -- have -- more than a couple philosophical
questions about the nature of mortal existence that I think are
rather important, and if I could reach some kind of Customer
Service department, I fully intended to *ask* them.

Yes, politely.

Well, at least at first.)
