My first impression-I hate it.
Naruto's an idiot. He proves this by taking an obvious bait. Does he really think an elite ninja is going to leave the bell out in the open? Here mouse, take this free cheese. Don't worry about the iron bar on the wooden table. Sakura's more capable of understanding the instructions than he is. She actually goes to hide. He proves he's capable of learning by not taking the bloody lunchboxes right away. . A better thought(in my opinion) was when he decided to eat the lunchboxes anyway even if it was against the rules.
Sakura doesn't have enough of a role for me to form an opinion, but so far I don't like what I'm seeing if the illusion was anything to go by.
Sasuke's the only one who actually I might have any good opinion of. He's mysterious, dark, one can see why he has fangirls. The fakeout of letting down his guard was subtle enough to have a potential chance of catching Kakashi off guard. Surprise is the first rule of warfare. Even if one suspects it may be a trap, take the chance. It might not be. Plus he moves after attacking.. Seeing Kakashi replaced with a Substitution Jutsu... umm.. I thought it was little more subtle than seeing shuriken inside a guy's vest and then finding it replaced with a log after the sight. He's spending his life to take down one guy? Aren't there S-class ninjas he could hire to do it while he gets stronger? Force multiplier rather than only himself. If he really wants to kill the guy, he's rich enough to hire ninjas to weaken the guy at least.
Kakashi's either tailoring his words to anger his students or he's really unaware of what he's doing. I prefer tailoring words to anger, because if he's an elite ninja, he'd better be doing it on purpose. The nail that sticks up gets hammered down is a proverb I dislike intensely. If it keeps sticking up, use it in a position that turns it into an advantage, rather than using brute force to fit a square peg into a round hole.
The lesson of teamwork before superpowers is something I agree with. The lesson of loyalty over blind obedience is also something I agree with Respect is greater than fear. Fear is easier to come by. Earth Style Groundhog Technique Decapitation was an example of the first rule of warfare.
One of Squad Seven seems to be an obsessed fangirl, and the other definitely is an idiot. While Sasuke is good, I would prefer him to actually direct their relevant skills, so they keep out of each other's way while contributing to a team effort.
Why the insert random whatever here do they call the techniques jutsus? It's more like magic than martial art techniques. (except for the hand-to-hand combat)

"Uh..." Usagi hesitated and then laughed nervously. "I'm not really sure..."
Luna sighed. Same old Usagi.
"Uh, Luna."
"Yes Usagi?"
"The crystal looks awfully fragile. Is it okay for me to carry it about everywhere? You know how clumsy I can be sometimes."
"That's a very responsible question, Usagi, but you don't need to worry. The Silver Imperium Crystal is almost indestructable."
"So it wouldn't matter if someone, say, put it in their sock and then smacked someone else over the head with. Two or three times."
"USAGI! That's the Silver Imperium Crystal! You can't do that."
Usagi winced, "I'm just saying, Luna. You know what my brother's like."
"Oh." Luna frowned. "Well it wouldn't damage the crystal, but someone could be seriously hurt if they were hit like that. Please don't let your brother do that."
"Okay Luna."
Luna watched Usagi suspiciously for the next few days and then forgot about it. She never did work out how Usagi defeated Metallia with the Silver Imperium Crystal, even after Usagi used it to defeat Wiseman and Pharaoh 90.
Usagi was just glad that none of the other scouts had been around to see her clouting bad guys on the head with the Silver Imperium Crystal inside her sock. Luna would never have shut up about it.

Even though I'm only in the early-middle of chapter three of LoGG, I'm considering what to put into chapter four - including throwaway references to Fenspace mass media. Besides, discussion's been quiet here lately.
So... What's on TV (broadcast or netcast) in Fenspace? Besides the obvious "reruns of shows that exist in our universe and underpin factions," that is.
I recall there being a (near-required) Skysaber series of some sort, but I don't recall whether it's TV, radio, or print.
The adventure serial / anti-Boskone propaganda vehicle Red Lad is a radio drama, not a TV show.
Other than those two, I don't recall any new mass entertainment being mentioned by anyone... Any ideas?

Brain dump follows:
minor almost spoilers follow. It's a monster movie, your not seeing it for the stunning plot reversals.
good bits:
Great monster design and FX.
Some very humorous lines about people coping with massive destruction.
A semi-realistic ending for the main characters (what happens when you don't leave the first chance you get).
Bad bits:
I understand that it is supposed to be from a handheld camera the whole time but:
A) there where whole stretches of the movie that are nothing but blurs as the characters run, and not seeing what is going on the screen very quickly kills the immersive experience.
B) and other sections where a (if a real person was filming) the camera would point in an entirely different direction.
Also SHORT (80 min)

I've been reading the "Suzumiya Haruhi" novel translations at the Baka-Tsuki site. Recently, I noticed that they're also translating, among others, Zero no Tsukaima, and out of idle curiosity I took a look.
One thing that caught my attention was a reference to the familiar belonging to a fellow named Guiche. His familiar, a giant mole, is named for a figure from Norse mythology, and, although Wikipedia's entry uses the usual accepted transliteration of the name, Baka-Tsuki's version calls the mole ... you guessed it ... Belldandy.
I'm all but certain this is an error on their part, rather than a deliberate salute (or insult). Whatever, I thought it was funny.
