Worse yet, the trial he's presiding over includes testimony about the accused men's Net activities. Article from The Sun here.

Enjoy!
How many do you recognize?
My only nitpick is that 42 SHOULD have had something from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
But at least 88 was the proper Back to the Future quote! Hee! ^_^

"Well folks, there you have it: a day in the life of a superhero and his sidekick. It's a very long day, the tights are uncomfortable...I think we covered that before. Map light: convenient and essential. A lot of working with villain motifs. Crime has a bossa-nova beat. Leap before you look. Remember, dnouement. Other French words: inconvenient, not-essential. Well, I could go on and on and on, but time's a-wasting, and evil's out there making handcrafted mischief for the swap meet of villainy. And you can't strike a good deal with evil, no matter how much you haggle. We don't need to look for a bargain. Goodness is cheap, because it's free, and free is as cheap as it gets. CUT!!"

Character Concept - Cool or Silly?
Posted by: Acyl - 05-17-2007, 11:01 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (23)

New name/concept. Cool or Stupid?
So... one of my favourite concepts in the comic book world... is the powersuited hero. The armoured vigilante. Iron Man, MACH-1 to MACH-IV. Anime-wise, I'm also a fan of Bubblegum Crisis.
But I don't have an armoured CoH character that I play regularly. I've tried to make some in the past, notably Flu Shot on Infinity, but they've not worked out too well for whatever reason. In Flu's case, I've realised I don't like playing an Ice/Ice Tanker. And the whole "coated in ice" thing doesn't seem too power-armoury anyway, even if I technobabble about pirated Crey Cryo Tank technology.
So.
Here's my latest effort. Elec/Elec Blaster. I've got him created on Infinity under the name "Circuit-3"... but I'm thinking of turning it into an acronym. Rerolling in all-caps. CIRCUIT-3.
Is that a good pun, or a hideously bad one?
Also, is it clever or stupid to have him be the same guy as Flu Shot, just wearing a different suit? The idea being that Crey Industries shut him down. They sued, you see. Unlicensed use of their cryo technology.
...is that a good idea? I'm serious, I really need a second call on this. =P

Profile on UT's new wbb coach, Gail Goestenkors
Posted by: katreus - 05-17-2007, 09:05 AM - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Profile on UT's new coach, Gail Goestenkors.
I realize not many people share my passion for women's basketball here but Goestenkors is one of the classiest women and coaches involved in the sport. She's highly respected and she's just an awesome person.
I'll excerpt one of the funniest parts for me:

Quote:
Before last season, Goestenkors cooked dinner for each class on her Duke team. Her players were shocked because Goestenkors doesn't cook. Her freezer is filled with frozen dinners.
"I am always telling my players to get out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves," Goestenkors said. "So that's what I decided to do."
Players got to choose what Goestenkors cooked. For her freshmen, she cooked steak and crab legs. For her sophomores, it was steak. For her juniors it was lasagna, and for her seniors it was spaghetti.
"We chose spaghetti because we figured she couldn't mess that up," Harding said. "But she still burned the garlic toast."
Harding is, of course, Lindsey Harding and the one that currently adorns my sig.
It's a good read with some nice, some hilarious, some tragic, and some inspiring anecdotes so take a chance. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Wink
Cheers.--

  Observation

Quote:
Dave had recently gotten himself a top line street racer. I believe it was a Ducati 916, or something very similar. And he'd been riding it for about a month at the time of the story, just letting the engine "break in". Nothing crazy. Normal driving. Then he went to visit some relatives down in Houston over the weekend. On his way back, he decides, since he's got all day to get back to the Dallas area, to take the opportunity to test the bike. He gets off the main highway and starts looking for some good back roads. Old two lane highways and such that aren't used much anymore since the interstate went through. He soon finds what he's looking for.
This paragraph brought to mind my reading somewhere that Mai-HiME's Natsuki owned (and repeatedly abused), some flavor of Ducati.
A few quick web-searches later, I'm sorta boggled at the implications of just how much SEARRS must have handed to her mother for her.

  Bob & Doug McKenzie's Two-Four Anniversary
Posted by: robkelk - 05-17-2007, 01:01 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (3)

I promised more information when it became available... well, here it is.
The important bit: Sunday at 9:00 pm on CBC-TV, right after the airing of Strange Brew (at 7:00). Canadians, set your TiVOs or VCRs...
(And, thanks to my new widescreen HDTV, I just discovered that CBC broadcasts in 1080i widescreen in Ottawa. Too bad I don't have anything that'll record in that resolution...)
