... the full list of Steps, including capsule descriptions and a couple new titles, is now available on the main DW page on my website. There's a bit more information than I provided in the Itinerary posting last week.

The main DW page has been updated with the full list of Steps in the Walk -- including capsule descriptions and in a couple of cases titles that have not yet been released anywhere else.
I've also revised the Fanfic^2 page to include links to the DW2 sequel Dead Bang.
If I can get my act together any time soon, I may even update the top page for the site...

THE WARRIOR
Scandal
You run, run, run away
It's your heart that you betray
Feeding on your hungry eyes
I bet you're not so civilized
Well isn't love primitive
A wild gift that you wanna give
Break out of captivity
And follow me stereo jungle child
Love is the kill
Your heart's still wild
Shooting at the walls of heartache
Bang, bang
I am the warrior
Well I am the warrior
And heart to heart you'll win
If you survive the warrior, the warrior
You talk, talk, you talk too me
Your eyes touch me physically
Stay with me we'll take the night
As passion takes another bite, oh
Who's the hunter, who's the game
I feel the beat call your name
I hold you close in victory
I don't wanna tame your animal style
You won't be caged in the call of the wild
Shooting at the walls of heartache
Bang, bang
I am the warrior
Well I am the warrior
And heart to heart you'll win
If you survive the warrior, the warrior
I am the warrior
Shooting at the walls of heartache
Bang, bang
I am the warrior
And heart to heart you'll win
If you survive the warrior, the warrior

Power: Lets Doug mimic the powers of any 1 Warrior with which he's worked.
Downsides: first, this temporarily turns _off_ his normal abilities (enhanced strength and reflexes, his improbabilty field, ect), though these may be compensated for depending on who he's copying. Second, doesn't seem to work if he tries copying Hexe. Third, he takes on the appearance of said warrior as well.

  Shito-XXX (will never be worksafe)
Posted by: classicdrogn - 04-03-2006, 08:27 PM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (124)

Over in the Angel Baby forum, thewre was a discusison of the Unit-01 bicycle, which Kokuten warned would make Transgendered Shinji cry because it didn't jiggle, and then mentioned the Angel-XX figurines that turn some of the Eva shito into costume-and-hair variations on Rei - then Valles mentioned that there was a good alt-uni in there somehwre, and and Wengfook told him to spawn less bunnies, and EML said "Apocalyptic harem H-anime! If Shinji doesn't pick the right Angel from among the choir that've suddenly descended on him, the world will end... Meanwhile, the redhead next door is torn between giving the poor boy a savage beating, or a savage... well. Never mind," to which I replied "You forgot to mention that ALL the angels must be, er, defeated? Conquered? You know what I mean - before he makes the choice."
Foxboy had positive feeling, but negative motivation, and Bob asked that further discussion be moved here but also thoguht it might be worth a read if someone wrote it.
Oh, the links:

So, details! Details! Are there Evas involved? If so, I'd picture them as more like Kos-Mos from Xenosaga, artificial partner-units to help a human deal with ... battling ... a demanding angel, and definitely DROP the whole Mother-Inside logo sticker as a little too squicksome. Alternately, it could be that the Angels still initially appear as giant beings but shrink to human proportions after thair initial... defeat. This would also alllow for a giantism-fetish episode, where Shinji & Co. have to find a way to ... handle ... one of the angels without the aid of their giant toys. Transgendered Shinji appears in the obligatory Eva dream sequences, because the Evas are after all female, and the fact that they have Progressive Strap-Ons doesn't change that he's merging his senses with a female body.
Heheheh... start things off like canon Eva, but at the point where Shinji would normally wake up to an unfamiliar ceiling, he wakes up to an unfamiliar feeling... then his eye twitches, and he groans, and spams, and then human-size Sachiel pops up from under the covers licking her fingers, with a cheery "Good morning, Hoshigi-sama!"

The wind blows hard
Against this mountain side
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where
I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road
My heart is old it holds my memories
My body burns a gemlike flame
Somewhere between the soul
And soft machine
Is where I find myself again

FATE/Twilight Flicker: Split Daybreak OMAKE files
Posted by: Rieverre - 04-01-2006, 05:19 PM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (139)

... because it's April 1st.
... because I'm back to DSL and spent the last hour waiting for DLs and trying to, ineffectually, write down more Incarna:ENR.
... because Mountain Dew.
... and coffee.
... and ord asking 'how far off target?'. Kami bless him with many Rider doujins.
... and because, while I may not be the best at bringing things to a close, I'm pretty confident in my ideas. And this requires only those.

So, the things I don't think I'll be putting into Split Daybreak unless I decide to make it more of a mess than the concept already is. In episodic format:

file #1 Gate, open! or For a Rose in Bloom.
Endless, yet not.
Infinite, yet defined.
And oh so familiar. The part of him that he'd discovered, that flicker, that glimmer of Eternity that rested at the very core of his Soul, had been here before.
His Spirit knew this place. A realm foreign to the bodies of all but a select few. Amongst whom he was not.
But that was alright. He'd always been good at working outside of arbitrary rules like that.
Although some would scoff at calling the laws of the Grand Reality 'arbitrary'.
He was, at the same time, floating through the emptiness, as if on an invisible tether, Avalon lighting the way through the Nothing towards their common goal, and walking through what his physical senses said was a walkway of some sort.
Pitch black, still. Every step sounded like a cannon shot in the overwhelming quiet.
Whether it was a question of seconds, minutes, hours, days ... perhaps even months or years, he pressed on. Time seemed to have lost all meaning.
That could be considered a good thing, since he was trying to move backwards in that particular dimension.
...
There!
It was so startling that he paused, mid-step ... or, well, whatever it really was that he was doing.
A tug, pulling on the part of him that he'd long since come to identify as Archer.
But not, he blinked, the sort he vaguely remembered the Spirit feeling when it was being summoned. At least, not in the usual way.
Normally, this would have been shrugged off. He knew himself well enough to realize that both his greatest strength and his greatest weakness was a mule-headed stubbornness. A single-mindedness in pursuit of a goal that was the reason he'd made it this far at all.
But this was enough to reach through the determination, and have both the part that was and had always been Emiya Shiro and the one that was and had always been the Heroic Spirit Archer sit up and take notice.
It was not a plea. That was far too demeaning a way to call it.
The very essence of the thing resonated through the place Between the facets of the Jewel that was the Universe that was the Jewel that was the ... etc. ad nauseum.
The cry of a kindred Spirit, defiant in the face of hopelesness. Tearing its way through impossibility with all the contempt of the Reaper's scythe cutting the threads of life.
There was no real hesitation. If he diverted from the path, now ... he didn't know if he could find it again. Not easily, at any rate.
Tohsaka's expertise, limited as it was when it came to this particular application of Jewel Magic, had been invaluable for that.
But if he didn't divert. If he ignored the call. If he just walked away ...
... then the person arriving to fulfill Emiya Shiro's promise would no longer be Emiya Shiro.
And that would simply not do at all.
A simple act, really. Just ... to turn.
And he did. There was a drop, where the path, the walkway he'd been following, seemed to simply disappear.
He didn't even hesitate. He simply took the step.
The foot landed, contrary to expectation, on something solid.
Another step. Another. Another.
And soon he was running, or the metaphysical equivalent thereof, at least. There was a sense of urgency, of pressing need, that arrived with that call.
Again, there was no indication of the passage of time. Were he to have bothered with counting the steps, he would have long since lost track.
But then, out of the nothingness ... a crack of light. Almost blinding, but at the same time so faint.
So faint.
"Don't open it! You don't know what'll happen!" cried a voice from beyond.
The last step, out of the nothingness, out the odd doorway ...
A body falling against him, sagging as its owner tried to press on with the last of their strength, fingers digging into his flesh. The act of a truly indominable will.
Instinctual action had his hands support ... the girl?
Bleeding. Eyes blazing with pure sky-blue colored refusal to bow down to ...
A glance.
The only word appropriate? Arena.
It's ethereal beauty giving him an odd, twisted sort of impression.
Lie given shape. Given form.
The Reality that Was felt ... odd. Fractured. Warped and looped once and again upon itself.
The people?
A man, tall and dark skinned and light haired. The source of the voice. Face locked in a look of ... puzzlement? Startlement? Disbelief? Malice?
A girl, equally dark skinned and clad in crimson, her hair purple. Expression a mix of sorrow, even resignation, but with a glimmer of something underneath.
And a shimmering, circling, furious sky full of steel.
Full of swords.
Even as he watched, they twisted, turned, and pointed to the girl he supported.
"Run! Get out of here! The swords!" the girl in crimson shouted, her voice clear despite the tears flowing from her eyes.
Metal flashed. Shrieked. Cried out in anguish. The sound was a physical thing, bones vibrating to it as it filled the air.
Instinct. Again. Which, in battle, was often a saving grace.
Shiro stood, among the shattered blades that stuck out of the Arena at oblique angles, one hand steadying the pink haired girl.
The other, extended before him, held a Traced copy of Avalon.
Which he then pulled close, and held against the girl's body. Her wounds stopped bleeding. Her eyes blinked, focused ... and Shiro felt a sense of purpose surge through her before he let the Noble Phantasm copy dissipate.
"Impossible!" he heard the man cry. "Who ... how dare you?! How dare you interrupt the ritual?!"
There was a shimmer, and Reality that Was swirled, putting into the man's hand a sword ...
"He broke mine," he heard the girl, now standing on her own, say. There was no surrender there, though.
Shiro didn't know what had led up to this confrontation, but then again, he didn't have to. He knew the girl, with her blazing blue eyes and impossibly pink hair, her blood stained uniform, her stance that spoke of pure, undiluted determination.
Knew her as much as he did himself.
He grinned, crookedly, and grabbed the girl's hand.
And Imagined.
Eyes went wide. Slender fingers wrapped around a hilt.
"Try this one."
And, even though it wasn't the original, just a shadow, just a reflection, a facet, it was still part of the original.
Everything is.
Everything was.
Everything will be.
And everything is connected.
In Tenjou Utena's hand, at the summit that was the End of the World, Excalibur howled.

file#2 coming soon. I shit you not.

I love this song, even if I can't understand what's being said half of the time. Stream of consciousness, so Doug could possibly do anything with it when he heard it. But...there's a repeated line in the song that kept hitting me when I listened to it, and combined with the chorus, I thought it might give Doug a potentially very-useful power song.

It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

R.E.M.
That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its
own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.
The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mount St. Edelite.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic,
slam, but neck, right? Right.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...
(It's time I had some time alone)

The last line in the parentheses is the part that's repeated over and over in the song. So....
Effect: Doug is shifted partly out-of-phase with regards to the normal world, going invisible in the real world. He cannot move outside the area defined by his power's area of effect at the moment the power kicked in; it's as though there was a forcefield that he can't move past. Even as he's invisible to others in the normal world and can't interact with them, other creatures are invisible/intangible to him fo r the duration.
However, he CAN move around within the area of effect, which would let him escape immediate problems/set up ambushes, and so on. The song also exerts a healing power on Doug while he's under its effect. When the song ends, Doug is returned to the normal world, fully healed. If there is someone in the position he'd be returning to, he's shunted far enough to one side in a random direction to an open space.
Thoughts?

  Laughter is the best medicine

Well...maybe, maybe not. But it DOES make one hell of a distraction....
Comedy Tonight
(from A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum)
Stephen Sondheim

Something familiar, something peculiar
Something for everyone: a comedy tonight
Something appealing, something appalling
Something for everyone: a comedy tonight
Nothing with kings, nothing with crowns
Bring on the lovers, liars and clowns
Old situations, new complications
Nothing portentous or polite
Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight

Something convulsive, something repulsive
Something for everyone: a comedy tonight
Something aesthetic, something frenetic
Something for everyone: a comedy tonight
Nothing with gods, nothing with fate
Weighty affairs will just have to wait
Nothing that's formal, nothing that's normal
No recitations to recite
Open up the curtain, comedy Tonight
Something familiar, something peculiar
Something for everybody: comedy tonight
Something that's gaudy, something that's bawdy
Something for everybawdy: comedy tonight
Nothing that's grim, nothing that's Greek
She plays Medea later this week
Stunning surprises, cunning disguises
Hundreds of actors out of sight
Pantaloons and tunics, courtesans and eunuchs
Funerals and chases, baritones and basses
Panderers, philanderers, cupidity, timidity
Mistakes, fakes, rhymes, crimes
Tumblers, grumblers, bumblers, fumblers

No royal curse, no Trojan horse
And a happy ending, of course
Goodness and badness, manifest madness
This time it all turns out all right
Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight
Effect: Everybody except Doug that's within Doug's field of effect is hit with uncontrollable laughter of the 'rolling on the ground laughing' intensity. Even after the song ends, most of those affected won't be able to do much for a few minutes, since they'll need time to recover/catch their breath.
Remember - tickling your opponent into submission is evil, but OH, so much fun...
