First-grader bullied for Star Wars water bottle, fandom explodes in support.
Posted by: Foxboy - 11-24-2010, 09:31 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

Apparently, the web is full of wonderful people, they just don't show up very often.
A first grade girl was getting bullied at school. The reason? She had a Star Wars water bottle and she was being teased because it was a "boys'" thing.
Well, this little girl had one thing a lot of bullying victims don't have: A mother who is a professional blogger. Here's the situation as it is NOW.
This young lady has had HUGE support from "girl Geeks" and just general geeks across the webs.
She's also apparently been invited by the folks who make Clone Wars episodes to a premiere event, done on the phone by the guy who currently does Yoda.

An interesting read of a ghost writer relating what it is like being paid to do other students writing assignments.

  Earth That Was

Song: Earth That Was
Artist: Star One
Album: Victims of the Modern Age
Lyrics: Arjen A. Lucassen
Length: 6:09

~*~

Mother Earth couldn't take no more
sucked dry by humanity
in the end she lost a fight
she was never going to win

we set out for distant shores
far across our galaxy
we're taking flight into the night
to the planets on the rim

a fire in the darkness
far away from the Earth that Was
a quest for freedom in the "Verse
seeking refuge from the earth

a fire in the darkness
a bright light on the edge of space
a desperate need to find our place
in the emptiness of space

Out here on the fringe of space
the outskirts of society
we're suffering the aftermath
of a cataclysmic war

cast out by the human race
nine outlaw pioneers
making life in the outer worlds
running from the law

a fire in the darkness
far away from the Earth that Was
a quest for freedom in the 'Verse
seeking refuge from the earth

a fire in the darkness
a bright light on the edge of space
a desperate need to find our place
in the emptiness of space

I see a fire in the darkness
a ray of hope in a black forbidding night
I see a fire in the darkness
a spark of life in a cold and empty sky

A fire in the darkness
far away from the Earth that Was
a quest for freedom in the "Verse
seeking refuge from the earth

A fire in the darkness
a bright light on the edge of space
a desperate need to find our place
in the emptiness of space

A fire in the darkness
far away from the Earth that Was
a quest for freedom in the "Verse
seeking refuge from the earth

A fire in the darkness
a bright light on the edge of space
a desperate need to find our place
in the emptiness of space

Should Doug ever run through the universe of Firefly/Serenity, this would be a simulacrum song for that would summon the crew of the Serenity. Or possibly them and the Serenity. Word of God confirms that this song is directly based on the show. (Both Star One albums have songs based on various sci-fi shows and movies.) This thread is for links/recommendations/what-have-you to references and resources that might be of use to writers.  I'm going to start it by repeating a couple of my recent posts on the subject, but it's open for everyone to add their own favorites and discoveries.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/11/23/buffy_movie/]According to The Register, there's a new Buffy movie in production. Early production - no director or cast has been announced.

It's a "re-imagining".

Also, "Joss Whedon, who created Buffy for the original 1992 film and subsequently guided her to TV success, will play no part in the project."

And the writer is currently "'fighting through' the script".

I'm not holding out a lot of hope for the quality of this movie, but I could be wrong...

Do you want to know what best follows a snow storm?

A wind storm!

Then an ice storm!

Followed by another snow storm!

Followed by another wind storm!

Gorrammit, Western Washington is supposed to get one three inch snow fall a year than the rest of the winter is fourty two and rainy. That was the deal!

Does anyone know what happened to the grum?
http://thegrum.com/ no longer resolves to a working webserver, but the domain is still valid.
