This blog is awesome! When I become a parent, I'm going to be all for letting my kids run around like they ought to; mentally ingrained with all the basic safety precautions, but free to more or less come and go as they please. I have plenty of fond memories of going outside for hours on end and coming home filthy but happy.
Although, the idea of giving your kids a cell phone that is strictly for emergencies strikes me as a good idea. Oughta be right up there with bicycle helmets.

So, last night Avast! comes up with a detected threat that it cleaned up.
I tell it to quick scan, and it finds a couple registry entries related to it too, as well as another file.
I immediately freaking PANIC, and start scanning the crap out of my computer, a process I continued this morning.
Avast! Full scan with *everything* on max
MSE Full scan
Windows Defender Full scan
Malwarebytes full scan.
According to all of these, my computer is clean. Nothing to worry about.
Yet I'm still freaking out.
Someone help talk me down, here.

| [META] Stations at the L5 Point |

I think the L5 All-Stations insignia pretty much hints that there are at least five stations at the Earth-Luna L5 point (if not more), but we've only established two of them so far. This thread is for suggestions as to who's in the other stations. (I've come up with every scrap of data about the stations in the L5 point, excepting the physical layout of Stellvia; it's long past time to share this corner of the sandbox.)
That logo has five stars on it - one each in orange, white, yellow, green, and blue. Orange is Stellvia with its orange insignia, and white is New Yavin with its Alliance-Clonetrooper white-clad Warsie troops. That leaves three stars for three stations...
Before asking "Who's there?", perhaps we should ask "Who's not there?" If the Trekkies had a station at L5, somebody would have mentioned it by now - instead, we've established that they've got starbases at Mars and AlphaCen. Babylon .5 is in Earth orbit, not at the L5 point. And the Jossies are out in the Jovian subsystem. (Then again, the Warsies are out on Mimas, and they've got New Yavin at L5, so this last one isn't a show-stopper.)
One thought: The blue star is for the Abriel, the Ahb home base. I can imagine a few folks biomodding themselves into Ahb, and the resulting 360-degree spatial sense would make them natural astroball players. I don't know enough about Crest/Banner of the Stars to go into detail here, though...
Any ideas for the yellow and green stars, or for expanding the Abriel description?

| Ceremony to Honor B-29 Crews in Japan |

If you never heard about it, during one of the many air-raids on Japan, two B-29 Superforts collided and crashed in Shizuoka City. Survivors of the air raid were able to rescue two crewmen from the wreckage, but they later died of their wounds. Out of respect for the airmen, the two were given proper burials.
But it doesn't end there.
One of the rescuers, a man named Fukimatsu Ito, found a scorched canteen among the wreckage that held not water, but bourbon. Later, after the war, he erected a memorial for the Japanese and Americans that lost their lives on that day, and since then a joint ceremony between Japanese and Americans takes place where American bourbon is poured over the memorial tablet for the bomber crews.
Just another reason why I think the Japanese are so awesome.

Well, okay, not really. But the principle is the same.
Anyway, I was in a doodling mood, and in an otherwise unrelated email Rob asked me to put together a logo for the L5 All-Stations. And I did:
![[Image: l5allstationslogonotext.png]](http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/347/l5allstationslogonotext.png)
That got the ball rolling, and when the madness cleared, I had logos for the four founding teams of the astroball league. In order for the wiki page, we have the USAF Fighting Wings:
![[Image: usaffightingwingslogo.png]](http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/5514/usaffightingwingslogo.png)
The Starfleet Academy Cadets:
![[Image: starfleetacademycadetsl.png]](http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/769/starfleetacademycadetsl.png)
(This one's based off of an ENT-era Starfleet flag I found at Memory Alpha.)
And last but not least, the Crystal Kyoto Knights:
![[Image: crystalkyotoknightslogo.png]](http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/7875/crystalkyotoknightslogo.png)
(This one's kinda cheap, since I dug into my DVD of heraldry clipart to make it. But enh, it's nice just the same.)
..and that's all, for the moment. If any of the rest've you have got ideas for the other un-logoed teams, feel free to play art director.

The first few acts are actually kind of hard to get through. The final moments? Basically everything after the Bridge Jump... fucking beautiful.
