  Questions
Posted by: Jorlem - 04-21-2010, 03:19 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (7)

If I may, I'd like to ask two questions.
First, if Doug has a song and a parody of that song by, for example, Weird Al, which has the same tune but different lyrics, what would happen if Doug heard the lead in for the song without knowing which it was?  Obviously, the powers would be different, given the different lyrics, but would his metatalent know which song was being played before the lyrics started and therefore before Doug could possibly know which song it was?
Second, would it be ok to post a song without a clear idea as to what its power would be?

Has to be seen to be believed.

I wouldn't worry about the camera so much. It's when the cheeky bastard goes for the SPEARGUN that I start to worry. That's all we need - speargun armed octopi swimming around the ocean!

I Think This Is The Week My Luck Changes...

...for the better.  I got a phone call on Sunday to set up a second interview tomorrow morning at the place I went to on Thursday.  I set up a first interview on Friday at a place in New York whose HR person called me last Thursday (and apparently they want to talk to me because the company president flagged my resume as "interesting").  And just at noon today I had a surprise first interview by phone for a consulting company -- and may get a second phone interview by Thursday.
That's two first interviews and maybe two second interviews, all in one week.  I haven't done this well ever.  Top it off with our new trees being delivered on Wednesday or Thursday, and this is going to be a heck of a week for good things.
So I'm rewarding myself with two slices of my favorite pizza and a pint of Guinness draft for lunch.

I just stumbled onto this last weekend: Change 123
Posted by: paladindythe - 04-19-2010, 03:38 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

Thanks to tvtropes.org, I found out about this little gem.  It's a seinen martial arts comedy/drama that's (in my opinion) really well done (in general, NSFW, but hey).  Here's the intro blurb:

Quote:Change 123 follows Motoko Gettou, a not-so-average teenage girl.
Orphaned at an early age after the death of her mother, she was taken in
by her "three fathers," each a master of a different style of martial
arts or combat-training. Under the care of each parent, a young Motoko
was subjected to excessively rigorous training. So much was the physical
and mental strain that Motoko developed three split-personalities,
known as the HiFuMi, consisting of the ever hard-headed Hibiki, quick
and agile Fujiko, and cute and immature Mikiri, each individually
skilled in combat skills learned from each master. One day, a man begins
to harass a terrified Motoko, now in high school, as he catches her
alone down an alleyway. A classmate of hers, Teruharu Kosukegawa, tries
to help Motoko, only in time to watch as an infuriated Hibiki kicks the
harassing man directly across his path straight into a car. Returning to
herself, a shocked Motoko promises Kosukegawa she will do anything if
he doesn't tell her secret. From here poor Kosukegawa must manage a
flurry of combat fighting and ecchi madness as he is brought along for
the ride of his life into the chaotic lifestyle of HiFuMi. But what
initially developed as a friendship seems to have become more to
Kosukegawa as he longs to tell Motoko his feelings for her -- if he can
manage to survive long enough to confess, let alone find the opportune
moment. What will transpire?

Whatever you had to say about him, he was a major figure.
I will say this, if it weren't for Robotech i would probably not be an anime fan today. So I pour out a soda for him.

Plotbunny: Has Anyone Ever Thought of This Before?

I had an insane thought occur to me.
Some like to say that the reason transfictionality works is because people in different universes are 'tuning in' to other universies with their 'imaginations.'
What if someone did more than just tune in?
What if a bunch of characters were all stuck in some poor mundane's head... and they could take control, making it look like the person had Dissociative Identidy Disorder... and all they really want is to get back to their homes?
Here's a sample grouping of characters.
Belldandy (Talks to the other Goddesses about how to fix this, and keeps the Mundane from going crazy)
Washu-chan (The power of SCIENCE!)
Ranma (The power of Whoop-Ass)
Sailor Moon (The power of Love and Justice)
Haruko Haruhara (The power of Awesome)
So....  Thoughts?

To quote from later in the RPG.net thread: http://forum.rpg.net/showpost.php?p=120 ... tcount=297]"Shadowjack: you are now far past epic and starting to lap legendary."

Yes, it's a coupe of days late. But Shadowjack posted it on the 16th, so it couldn't have been on time even if I wasn't behind in reading the thread.

(After you've read that post - and I do mean after - http://www.atomicthinktank.com/viewtopi ... 20#p668220]see here.)
