Bob, have you had Skeeve and Aahz (from Robert Asprin's Myth Series) make a cameo appearance yet?

Well you're dirty and sweet
Clad in black
Don't look back
And I love you
You're dirty and sweet oh yeah.
Well you're slim and you're weak
You got the teeth
Of the Hydra upon you
You're dirty sweet
And you're my girl.
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get it On
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get It On
You're built like a car
You got a hubcap
Diamond star halo
You're built like a car
Oh yeah.
Well, you're an untamed youth
That's the truth
With your cloak full of eagles
You're dirty sweet
And you're my girl.
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get it On
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get It On
Well you're windy and wild
You got the blues
In your shoes and your stockings
You're windy and wild
Oh yeah.
You're built like a car
You got a hubcap
Diamond star halo
You're dirty sweet
And you're my girl.
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get it On
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get It On
Well you're dirty and sweet
Clad in black
Don't look back
And I love you
You're dirty and sweet
Oh yeah.
Well you dance when you walk
So let's dance
Take a chance
Understand me
You're dirty sweet
And you're my girl.
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get it On
Get It On
Bang a gong
Get It On
[Repeat and Fade....]

A Possible Gate Song |

"Long Way Home" by The Offspring off of their new album Splinter.
Lyrics at www.lyrics007.com/Offspri...yrics.html
Possible Gate Song for a One shot world. Since it's fairly new Doug wouldn't have access to it but then maybe he picks it up somewhere along the line.
Silly Effect that doesn't fit the lyrics: Takes Doug to random tourist spots in the world he's currently in and then he returns home at the end of the song. If he stops the song before it ends he stops traveling and ends up at the current random touristy location. As for an added effect throw in a time dilation effect.

For to see Mad Tom of Bedlam
Ten thousand miles I travel
Mad Maudlin goes on dirty toes
To save her shoes from gravel.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
I went down to Satan's kitchen
To break my fast one morning
And there I got souls piping hot
All on the spit a-turning.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
That of your five sound senses
You never be forsaken,
Nor wander from your selves with Tom
Abroad to beg your bacon.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
The moon's my constant mistress,
And the lonely owl my marrow;
The flaming drake and the night crow make
Me music to my sorrow.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
I know more than Apollo,
For oft when he lies sleeping
I see the stars at mortal wars
In the wounded welkin weeping.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
With a host of furious fancies,
Whereof I am commander,
With a burning spear and a horse of air
To the wilderness I wander.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
By a knight of ghosts and shadows
I summoned am to tourney
Ten leagues beyond the wide world's end-
Methinks it is no journey.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.
For to see Mad Tom of Bedlam
Ten thousand years I travel
Mad Maudlin goes on dirty toes
To save her shoes from gravel.
Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys
Bedlam boys are bonny
For they all go bare and they live by the air
And they want no drink nor money.

Sailor Moon and Time Spent Doing Things |

Okay, I'll admit it -- I'm minorly hooked on the live action Sailor Moon series. It's of uneven quality, and some of the stuff is really cringeworthy, and most of the youma look like they came out of the Ultraman extras lounge, but there's something rather ... enchanting and earnest about it that I like.
Anyway, as part of the occasional development effort for the Sailor Moon DW Step, I've been looking to see how the latest series handles the time spent on transformations and attacks. It probably won't surprise anyone that it's inconsistent. But despite that, it seems to make a bit more sense than what I've seen in the anime. Presumably, after more than ten years, Takeuchi (who is directly involved in the show) has begun to address some of the earlier inconsistencies -- but not everything is perfect yet.
It would appear that the fancy windups for attacks are... dramatic license. While most of the time we see the whole complicated schmear of colors and funky body contortions, there are a few instances when we're "outside" of that point of view and can actually see what the Senshi are doing as if we're an observer on the spot. The attacks are pretty much near-instantaneous: as much time as it takes to cock the hands into the right position and yell the name. Most notably, we see Mars and Mercury both do this -- just a little wind-up, then yell, flick a hand and zap. Maybe five seconds, maybe less. Even more noteworthy, the one time we see Venus do a crescent beam, she doesn't even bother calling the attack -- it's as fast as firing a gun: hand up, zap. Then again, she is far more experienced than the others, a fact which we will come back to in a moment.
Anyway, these times are easily on a par with those implied in the V&V rules; I don't think Doug is going to have any problems with the speed at which they can let off shots at things.
On the other hand, the transformation sequences do not appear to be quite so fast, even when one leaves out the invocation and hand gestures. (If you haven't seen the new version, the henshin sequence now involves a series of specific hand/arm movements that reminds me unpleasantly of the "somatic components" of a D&D spell.) We have a lot less "outside" information on which to base a time estimate -- two transformations, to be precise, in two different episodes, and they don't jive with each other.
The first is an instance where a cosplaying Usagi transforms in front of Jadeite. They're the only conscious people in the room, and he's about 30 or 40 feet from her. By the time she comes out of the funky special effects, he's been able to get behind her and position himself for an attack. Since he doesn't appear to be capable of a combat teleport, this suggests that the transformation takes at least a few seconds, and maybe the actual length of the special effects sequence. Doug won't like that.
On the other hand, we have a later instance where Minako starts running and *blips* into Venus. No gestures, no invocation, no transformation animation, not even a break in stride. And it may well again reflect the fact that Venus has far more experience; perhaps all the Senshi will eventually reach that point. However, for the purposes of DW, I don't think it's going to happen.
(Oh, and afterthought -- it would appear that Minako might be Ami's intellectual equal, as scary as that might sound. Apparently she not only sings and dances, but she choreographs herself, writes her own music and handles at least part of the development of her marketing campaigns. All this while occasionally vanishing and being a vigilante...)
That's it, just a long ramble... opposing viewpoints and opinions of all stripes welcome.

My normal behavior is to read what new posts/threads I care to, and then click the "mark forum as read" link to catch the posts/threads I didn't read.
Today that click got me a Not Authorized message on an otherwise blank screen.
So, I came to this forum to notes this weird behavior, and found it full of unread messages from 2002 and 2003!
Huh?

Here's a few worlds that Doug might have some problems with.
Guyver, after Sho gets the Gigantis upgrade.
Sho really needs someone to talk to.
Super Dimension Century Orguss.
Can Doug handle a world that has dimensional problems?
The Realm of Dungeons and Dragons(Booby, Hank, Sheila, Diana, Presto, Eric, Uni)
The Mega-Man cartoon. Maybe do something about the extreme male chauvinistc tendencies of the cast.

Lisatook a moment to study the girl at her side, only to discoverJennifer doing the same. They exchanged looks for a fewmoments."So..." the journalist finally began."So..." the child-boomer echoed. There was a pause, just long enough for Lisa to start fidgeting."I'm sorry about what I said in there. About them deliveringyou to... well, you know," she murmured.Jennifer watched her with large, solemn eyes. "It's okay. You hadn't even noticed that I was in the room, and even if you had, you couldn't know that I was the sexaroid."Lisa winced. "Still, I'm sorry."Jennifer nodded. "Apology accepted." Then her entire demeanor changed, shifting almost visibly from miniature adult to genuine child. "You know," she said almost breathlessly, "I met Grampa Raven, an' I got to talk to Leon, who's gonna be my daddy, an' they warned me 'bout Uncle Mackie, an' of course I know what *they* do, but nobody told me 'bout *you*."Caught off-balance by the complete transformation of Jennifer's manner, Lisa stared for a moment and then laughed. "Well, I'm the Sabers' archivist.""You're like their librarian?" The girl's eyes were wide but filled with a knowing playfulness. Lisa nodded. "Sort of. I make permanent records out of the information in their mission recorders, so they can study them later." She led the girl out the door and into the hall, pausing only to flip the ready room light switch with her free hand. "Is that hard?""Not really." Lisa's voice continued to echo back up the hallway as the pair went deeper into the headquarters complex behind Raven's Garage. The overhead lights cast long shadows back behind them into the ready room. "I also try to get unbiased stories about them into the newspages. That'sharder.""Really?""You better believe it."
