  Robots for Everyone!
Posted by: Ace Dreamer - 11-20-2003, 02:35 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (8)

What do people think Doug's gift might do with the "Cubix: Robots for Everyone" theme tune?
Could be amusing in a BGC setting!
I suspect that it wouldn't be native to WW, and maybe Doug left before Cubix arrived in the media, anyway, but...

  Possible Gate Song?
Posted by: Berk - 11-20-2003, 07:23 AM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (1)

A little song from the Effing Prince of Darkness himself..
Times have changed and times are strange
Here I come , But I ain't the same
Mama, I'm Coming Home
Times gone by seems to be
You could have been a better friend to me
Mama, I'm Coming Home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had me hypnotized
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
You made me cry, you told me lies
But, I can't stand to say goodbye
Mama, I'm Coming Home
I could be right, I could be wrong
It hurts so bad, it's been so long
Mama, I'm Coming Home
Selfish love yeah we're both alone
The ride before the fall
But I'm gonna take this heart of stone
I just got to have it all
I've seen your face a hundred times
Everyday we've been apart
I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm Coming Home
I'm Coming Home
You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had the hypnotised
Lost and found and turned around
By the fire in your eyes
I've seen your face a thousand times
Everyday we've been apart
And I don't care about the sunshine, yeah
'Cause Mama, Mama, I'm Coming Home
I'm Coming Home

  Permission to come aboard, sir!
Posted by: ro - 11-20-2003, 03:55 AM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (7)

Hello!
After lurking in the shadows for the past year, I've finally decided to step into the light (it buuuurns!) and formally join this happy bunch of misfits and weirdos. Smile Now for the introduction. Drums please!
The name's Rolando F. Farrales Jr.; my friends call me Ro. I'm a 27-year-old Filipino-American living in scenic Fort Washington, MD, right outside Washington D.C. I'm a graduate of Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) and was a member of its Corps of Cadets.
It's safe to say that being here means that I share most of the same hobbies and interests with you fine fellows, so I'm not going to list them out. Why state the obvious? I'll just mention the one thing I'm into that hasn't been mentioned by anyone else around here, which is personal health and fitness. I aim to always be young at heart, so having a body that can keep up with me will help make that happen. Easier said than done (and trying to lose weight is a b*tch-and-a-half), but I persevere! "FIGHT-O! FIGHT-O! FIGHT-O!"
I found myself here the same way a lot of you did, by way of the EPU Forums, to satisfy my curiosity on what this "Drunkard's Walk" was all about. Next thing I know, I'm an instant DW fan. (Just add water and stir vigorously. Serves six. Refrigerate after opening.)
That's it for me. I shall now return to the shadows and patiently wait for Chapter 15 of DWII. Later, all!

  Song for Free Boomers
Posted by: Koryimran - 11-19-2003, 09:28 AM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (11)

Well after rereading chapter 14 for the third or forth time now and after playing around with iTunes Music Store this song popped up. It seems to oddly fit what some boomers might feel after being freed. It's Switchfoot - "Meant to Live". Anyway enjoy.

Nothing really serious here, I just had the mental picture of Doug and Terry standing on a roof top about to jump down and lay a hurting on some street thugs when Grumpy Old Bruce Wayne shouts "Sangnoir!" over the commlink causing Doug to cringe and Terry to stifle a snicker.

  Power from Album Cover
Posted by: Ace Dreamer - 11-17-2003, 12:56 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (6)

Now, Doug has at least one case of getting a power from a music video, so I wondered if the visuals on an album cover would do any good?
You see, he now has a flying bike, again (DW2:14), so I wondered if that could give him a Gate Song from Meatloaf's "Bat out of Hell"?

  Ch. 14 Concordance
Posted by: wxnut - 11-17-2003, 11:05 AM - Forum: Drunkard's Walk II: Robot's Rules of Order - Replies (3)

Greetings!
The Tazmanian Devil's quote came from "Devil May Hare" (1954) the debut of the Tazmanian Devil.
Here's an excerpt of the summary of that cartoon from Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies: A Complete Illustrated Guide to the Warner Bros. Cartoons by Jerry Beck and Will Friedwald:

Quote:
A stampede of animals fleeing from the Tasmanian Devil runs past Bugs's hole. While Bugs looks up the beast in his encyclopedia, it enters his home and makes ready to devour our hero. Bugs stalls by offering to help find a menagerie of creatures to consume. First, they dig for groundhogs. Bugs gets him covered with dirt. It does no good as he instantly reappears and growls, "What for you bury me in the cold, cold ground?"
Hope this helps!

  Dylan Thought
Posted by: Jeanne Hedge - 11-16-2003, 03:26 AM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (6)

There was this exchange in another thread:

Quote:
given that many rock singers slur their words when singing, people often misunderstand exactly what was said/sung.
Quote:
You know, I hadn't really thought of this, but it probably is the case.
I take it there's not a whole lot of Dylan on Doug's personal jukebox?
I'd think Doug probably does have the following Bob Dylan song in his collection, if for it's title alone. Given Dylan's singing is often totally and completely impossible to understand, I wonder whose version it is (it seems almost everyone's covered it one time or another) and what power it might provide (there would be several possibilities I think)...

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Foreigner - Head Games

Quote:
Daylight, alright
I don't know, I don't know if it's real
Been a long night and something ain't right
You won't show, you won't show how you feel
No time ever seems right
To talk about the reasons why you and I fight
It's high time to draw the line
Put an end to this game before it's too late
Head games, it's you and me baby
Head games, and I can't take it anymore
Head games, I don't wanna play the...
Head games
I daydream for hours it seems
I keep thinkin' of you, yeah, thinkin' of you
These daydreams, what do they mean?
They keep haunting me, are they warning me?
Daylight turns into night
We try and find the answer but it's nowhere in sight
It's always the same and you know who's to blame
You know what I'm sayin', still we keep on playin'
Head games, that's all I get from you
Head games, and I can't take it anymore
Head games, don't wanna play the...
Head games
So near, so far away
We pass each other by 'cause we don't know what to say
It's so clear, I'm sorry to say
But if you wanna win you gotta learn how to play
Head games, always you and me, baby
Head games, 'till I can't take it anymore
Head games, instead of makin' love
Head games, ooh
Head games, always you and me, baby
Head games, 'till I can't take it anymore, no more
Head games, instead of makin' love, we play
Head games
Head games, in the first degree
Head games, yeah, always you and me
Head games, why do you do it baby?
Head games

A good remote manipulation song, IMO.
Foreigner - Double Vision
Quote:
Feeling down 'n' dirty, feeling kinda mean
I've been from one to another extreme
This time I had a good time, ain't got time to wait
I wanna stick around till I can't see straight
Fill my eyes with that double vision
No disguise for that double vision
Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new to me
My double vision gets the best of me
Never do more than I, I really need
My mind is racing, but my body's in the lead
Tonight's the night, I'm gonna push it to the limit
I live all of my years in a single minute
Fill my eyes with that double vision
No disguise for that double vision
Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new to me
My double vision always seems to get the best of me, the best of me, yeah-ah
Ooh, double vision, I need my double vision
Ooh, It takes me out of my head, takin' me out of my head
Ooh, I get my double vision
Ooh, seeing double double, double vision
Ooh, oh my double vision
Ooh, double vision
Yeah-ah, I get double vision, ooh . . .
Summons a double of Doug...

  Hello All
Posted by: Jeanne Hedge - 11-15-2003, 06:34 AM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (2)

After lurking on this board for quite a while, I finally broke down and got an account. Now that I've gotten an account, I guess I need to introduce myself. Smile
My name is Jeanne Hedge. Some of you might recognize my name from a few BGC fanfics I've written. My stuff is nowhere near Bob's class, but a few of my stories have been pretty well received, and I like to think I do ok.
If you RPG using any of R.Talsorian's BGC RPG books, my old website is mentioned in all three books as one of their information sources. I was quite honored and surprised when that happened - I don't think very many of us "civilians" listed knew they were going to do that. But I digress - as I said, they reference my old website - the current URL is www.jhedge.com. It's not just BGC stuff - I run a fairly popular story site from there too that some of you may be interested in.
I'm also one of the moderators for RAAC. Bob's recent update of the version of Drunkard's Walk II that was in the archive gave me an excuse to go back and re-read everything again, which was quite enjoyable (but then I'm preaching to the choir here)
The last couple years I've been the moderator for the fanfic panel at Anime Central, and I've just been asked back to moderate the fanfic panel for ACen 2K4 -- hope to see some of you there!
Regards,
Jeanne Hedge
