  Commission: Gamma & Decay
Posted by: Sweno - 05-07-2010, 04:01 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (13)

So prompted by some of the other commissions I saw posted here I dropped a few bucks on one for myself.
Drawn by the very talented drunkfu (who was very understanding with my nitpicking).

I'm mainly posting this for 2 reasons:
1) share the joy
2) hopefully motivate me to finish the story the inspiration for this piece came from.

  Musical Mods
Posted by: Logan Darklighter - 05-07-2010, 12:41 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (4)

For those of you who have used City of Heroes Splasher in order to modify the opening theme and some key music bits (mainly the Pocket D "Canned" music) I have some thoughts -
One - I figured out what happened to break the music mods in Pocket D.
See - the Sound OGG files that Splasher used in the data folder to override the music in Pocket D were keyed to the old setup. Which had the music running from the same PIGG file as the sound effects. That's why you could never turn down the music in the "D" previously by using the regular music slider in the options. You had to get rid of ALL the sound effects.
Well they've changed that. The music now is separated from the sound effects properly. The old broken way that Splasher was keyed to no longer works. Those files no longer are used or they are keyed differently. That's why you can't replace the music properly. If you could figure out which specific OGG files are actually playing the music now and mod those instead - well, um... That's what we used splasher for, now, isn't it? So until such time as the owner of the program figures this out and modifies it, we're kind of stuck.  Unless someone very patient and very creative can make a workaround.
On the positive side, since we CAN turn down the music of the club independently, we can do so and just listen to The Cape Radio or something else on Winamp without losing the ability to hear other things.
Fortunately the rest of the sound mods seem to work just fine.
Number two - Having "Driving with the Top Down" as the opening log in for my Blue Siders just ROCKS. Just sayin... ^_^

Without further ado, a "Splash" for ships that are part of the SAM.

  Just a heads up
Posted by: M Fnord - 05-06-2010, 02:08 PM - Forum: Forums - Replies (1)

I'm not posting in the Senshi Flag thread on the Fenspace forum for a bit, as it seems there's a bug in the system that keeps screwing up my replies; shit's getting posted out of order, and it's wreaking hell on my ability to follow the damn thread. Yuku's been notified - to the extent that reporting the bug on the support forum qualifies as "notified" - and I guess we'll see if their admins know WTF's up.

  [ART][META] Senshi Flag - discussion & argument
Posted by: M Fnord - 05-06-2010, 01:17 AM - Forum: Fenspace - Replies (39)

So I got bored (and why is it that so much of the stuff I post starts out that way?)...

This is a prototype of a flag for the Crystal Millennium. Obviously it's a general ripoff of the Japanese flag in terms of overall design; I figure that's fitting since the Senshi are an anime-inspired faction. The mon in the center - the nine crescent moons - would be the symbol of House Serenity. In terms of coloration, I'm not happy with it. The blue is there mostly as a placeholder until I get a better idea of what the field should be.

I'm also kicking around ideas for the coat of arms for HRH Serenity I, Empress of Venus, Queen of Crystal Tokyo, etc. If anybody has any bright ideas on *that* lemmie know too.

  The Humble Indie Bundle (games)
Posted by: Sofaspud - 05-05-2010, 08:30 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (8)

I don't know how long the promotion will last, but it's in support of indie game developers, the Child's Play charity, and the EFF.
Pay what you want, no more.  Five games.  No DRM.
Sold!  (Can't wait 'til I'm off work.  World of Goo!)
http://www.wolfire.com/humble
Edit: apparently the deal is only happening for a week, with 6 days left on the clock at this point.
Edit 2: and all five games are cross-platform, fully supported on Windows, Mac, and Linux.  Yay!

The Pope Song, by Tim Minchin
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 05-05-2010, 03:14 PM - Forum: Politics and Other Fun - Replies (2)

Musical opinion on the Pope's role in the abuse scandals.  Warning:  very, very, very NSFW, which is why I'm not embedding the video here.  Somewhat gratuitous, but it's the kind that hammers a message home.  I strongly suggest you open the description box and follow the lyrics, because the less obvious ones may go by too fast to catch properly.
