  Space Patrol's Most Wanted
Posted by: DeputyJones - 02-27-2016, 06:00 AM - Forum: Fenspace - Replies (1)

Just a bit of a suggestion to throw out here. The entry by the name of "Crime in Fenspace" is in need of a refresher, I think. It's been almost 3 1/2 years.
For example, it says that Asmodeus Grey is the ONLY individual on the Space Patrol's Most Wanted list. I think this should change. Sure, Grey should be Undesirable #1, but what bout the other nine? Any ideas?
Here's some:
#3: Willard "Willie Pete" Peterson: from JakeGrey's Five Nights at Freddy's thread.
#8: "Granny Larceny": Real name unknown, this possibly* geriatric Caucasian woman is guilty of petty crimes and just plain embarrassment to the forces of law and order in Fenspace. Her modus operandi is to rob a small time store and gunpoint and then wait for a police response. She then proceeds to lead them on a merry chase, first on foot and then with a prearranged waved vehicle, never the same one twice. Thus far, she has hit every other quick-e-mart store in the inner system and now seems to have set her sights on the outer.
(*: some believe Granny must be either an athlete whose biomod just makes them look like an old lady, others think it's a waved grandma suit)
Note: The name "Granny Larceny" comes from one of the earlier Ninja High School issues. A wanted poster is seen in the basement of the Quagmire Police Department offering a reward for her, and nothing else is ever done with the idea other than a quick mention by another character on whether they and someone else are "going after" her.

  Fen Filk?
Posted by: Dartz - 02-27-2016, 03:03 AM - Forum: Fenspace - Replies (1)

Aside from Mel's Contribution and a music video or two by the Hong Kong Cavaliers that I can't find anymore, are there any other in-universe fen-filk's that've been mentioned over the years. Or even just a list of titles that've been generated.

Dang, picked this up finally this week and just got around to watching it. Was there a storyline anywhere? As I was lost & still am, and feel like I should go watch something lighter, like Equestrian Girls.

I'll just note, the BB they got flying, that was a Flight 1 Iowa and not a Yamato?

if I can't have a Blackberry, what do I want?
Posted by: robkelk - 02-22-2016, 10:50 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (9)

I really like my Blackberry smartphone, because it has a physical keyboard and security wasn't an afterthought when it was designed. But it's looking more and more like Blackberry (the company) might disappear, although I really hope not.

If I can't get a Blackberry, what do I want, keeping in mind the reasons I gave above?

  I've got a little list
Posted by: Hazard - 02-21-2016, 06:01 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (1)

Well, Ko Ko does anyway.

This song is a little odd. It's from Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Mikado,' and it's meant to be adapted to local and contemporary issues. Because of this I think that depending on when and where the version Doug uses was adapted and sung he gets an instinctive understanding that sticks with him of who the contemporary government would like to rid themselves off. It defaults to government kill lists, but a Mikado adapted to the boardroom or a crime families would see the effect adapted to similar organisations.

  X-com
Posted by: Rod.H - 02-20-2016, 04:32 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

I couldn't find an old thread, hence me making this one.

Yeah, I'm probably one of the players that's made X-Com 2 the way it is due to starting some games back in the day and just stopping. I suspect having a Chryssalid drop in on Zhang's recruitment mission was my 'nope!' moment. So as some may've noticed my steam status indicating I'm playing it again, on a new 'easy' game and it's early days for me 4~5 missions in with only 1 dead trooper & recruiting Zhang went so much smoother this time. The dang mobile spawn point met overwatch LMG, a rocket & sniper shot. Everything else overwatch or normal shooting resulting in a pile of Thin Men & Sectoids.

Though I do think another early Chryssalid appearance will trigger another rage quit.

Edit: and I completely forgot that I've got it on 360 as well, so add another incomplete play through to the count.

Interesting fact I just learned: The Ministry of Magic pays the tuition of all Hogwarts students:

http://www.npr.org/2016/02/17/467111258 ... -just-fine

Quote:"Is your effort to connect with Latinos dead if Trump's the nominee?" Siegel asked.
"I don't think our effort is dead at all," Preibus said. "These candidates will talk to those communities, will answer questions, will have plenty of time to campaign and obviously tell them why they'd be a better choice than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. And it's gonna be up to them to make sure that that ship is put on the right course."
Quote:Preibus said today's political back-and-forth will not be a concern to voters in the general election.
"Next month will feel like next year," he said. "And June and July will feel like 10 years from now. This will be just fine, and we will move on. And we'll get to a nominee. We'll go to the convention, and we'll be unified, and we'll beat the Democrats."
The crazy thing is that he acts like he truly believed it when he said it. So is he lying or just plain delusional?

  Kenko resurfaces?
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 02-16-2016, 06:07 PM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (4)

I was just browsing through my bookmarks and I visited the http://www.fanfiction.net/u/90351/Kenko]fanfiction.net page where a lot of Rob "Kenko" Haynie's stories are located.  On at least one occasion in the Dead Fic thread at the top of this board, it's been claimed that this is actually a page that was set up by a fan of his work as an archive.  And the fact that it hadn't been touched since 2010 sort of supported that.
Except this morning, there is a new entry -- one of Kenko's oldest stories, "The Lunch Counter", was added to the page a week ago.  And the description text reads

Quote:This was, actually the first fic I ever wrote- and I found it on the
net, searching on a whim. Maybe you'll enjoy this. (I used a different
pen name back then.)
So... Kenko is still around, still on the net, and at least still tangentially interested in his writing...
